Let's not forget; the offense Roman was running was the one designed and approved by Jim Harbaugh. Roman has seen first hand that offense does not work. He could use bits of it but put in WCO concepts and be an entirely different cat. Not saying he will but....
If I were Roman, I would use the Nuremberg defense: "I was only carrying out orders."
Honestly, as I become more removed from the Harbaugh era. I'm starting to feel bad. Maybe Roman wasn't the issue all along. It was the stubborn ass putting up rails. Roman, like any other rational human being was trying to keep his job. Unfortunately, all that would have meant was prolonging the inevitable because the 49ers' FO, like most rational organization, was not accepting the offensive performance or structure placed on the field.
This also may be why he chose not to follow Harbaugh back to college.
