He's actually played 3 seasons which is plenty of time to determine the ceiling/talent of a QB.
Not to mention we've seen him in the playoffs. Lots of work left for a 3 year vet.

The probably bought excitement for regular season games for fans for the next 6 years. The kid can win games. What they didnt buy was a super bowl, or many playoff wins.

The contract is structured right ( from what I heard on NFL radio this morning ) with 12 and 10 mil a year in the final years. Thats good money for a starting QB.

A lot of teams spend years trying to find a QB capable of doing the first paragraph. Still not worth the money, but I get it.

Agreed. This is a franchise who hasn't won anything for years. When was the last time they had 3 straight playoff appearances? People can say what they want about Dalton, but he brings some stability to that team. The contract is structured well and it is a fair deal when you compare him to other QBs around the league.

Still I think it might be more fair to compare him vs other QBs in his draft class, like Gabbert, Ponder, Locker, and even Cam Newton.

That team has been carrying Dalton, not the other way around. It's loaded with talent and only needs an upper tier QB to become a legit SB contender.
