I was kind of shocked by it, I was never in an NFL locker room, been plenty times in college ones. I go back to the pre cell phone days. I think the worst I ever saw was somebody hiding somebody's shoes or when some dip wad slapped some athletic tape on my chest, that hurt to pull off as there was quite a bit of hair there. As somebody said before it is pretty obvious Incognito isn't very bright, and his immature crap was over the top, but Martin played along. I say they were both at fault, I would not want either one on my team.
Crazy right? A guy thrown into a shark tank, and he actually tried to figure out how to swim to fit in? How dare he.
Incognito was put on the team's Leadership Council, whether they intended it or not, the message sent by the Dolphins was "this guy is a role model of what you should aspire to", he was propped up as a leader in the locker room due to the cowardice of others, what was Martin supposed to do? In the report, Wells consulted psychological experts who basically said that Martin's behavior was par for the course of someone who is being abused/bullied, he tried to appease his persecutor, nothing more.
Personally I think Martin should have met Incognito out in the parking lot with a baseball bat, but that's just me. He's got a passive personality type, it doesn't justify him being harassed non-stop for almost 2 years.
At this point I am absolutely flabbergasted to see even the slightest implications of sentiments that even remotely defend Icognito and the others.
I am not defending Incognito, I said they both were at fault. Martin played along, he even hung out with Incognito outside of work. They hooked up with women together, went out drinking etc, etc. Who the hell goes and hits the town with someone they don't like? Kind of like the hot chick who has a crappy personality but guys just keep letting her walk all over them because of the way she looks. She can become deluded that her behavior is acceptable because not one confronts her about it. Martin let this go on too long and didn't say anything until the day he stormed off and quit. Incognito is a pea brained idiot with no class, but Martin has problems of his own, never speaking up for himself.
Wasn't pointing a finger at you, just to clarify. I'm just saying with what we know now, I would be dumbfounded to see anyone try to imply even a sliver of defense towards Incognito.

I think we should sign him to a 1-2 yr deal. Miami will most likely release him and we need a swing tackle. We can't have Boone be our backup lol

Haley was a one off nutjob who did what he wanted to do. Incognito is a manipulator that could easily have rallied the team against Martin. Haley didn't have a posse and didn't run the "kangaroo court" like Incognito did. Big difference.

I think the GM, offensive line coach, and any other player cited in the events should get AT LEAST the same treatment the Saints did if not worse. I actually think they should lose a pick.

Well, I didn't know for sure that the Wells report would be so damning for Incognito... but, this is why I thought it was dumb of him to blast Martin. Now his twitter blast/rant just falls in line with what the Wells report is saying, that he is a bully... I'm confused at how he thought the Wells report was going to blast Martin. Did he really think a guy born in 1950 was going to understand the generation of people born in the late 70s-early 90s?? And how we talk to our friends? The stuff we say is vulgar and offensive to them. It is just how we are..
Oh well, nobody ever accused football players of being smart
Wells didnt have to understand the culture. The report is split into sections. The first section is more conclusion based wheresas the second is purely factual. It contains a complete overview of all the collected information in the 1st and 2nd year of JMs career. Basically you're allowed to draw your own conclusions by reading the 2nd section.
As much as I agree with your point I don't feel Incognito is gettinf treated unfairly. He was the type of guy you don't invite out because you know he's going to get drunk and turn into a neanderthal. Unfortunately Martin didn't have choice in the matter because he was under contract. The culture doesn't give him a pass because alternately I dont believes all athletes act that way. I guarentee this team doesn't act nowhere near that abusive because there professionals and this is their job. If any of us treated a coworker like that it would be put on ice real quick. The onky difference is this was a locker room and that somehow makes it different. Sounds like just another b******t excuse for regressive behavior IMO.
I didn't mean to imply Incognito is being unfairly treated. The dude took full advantage of his veteran status and imposed his will on the junior players because they didn't want to rock the boat. I think everyone needs to remember that the NFL lockeroom isn't a normal environment.. it is essentially an all-male workplace filled with man-children. Football players are treated like rockstars in college and in the NFL.. given so many free things and then paid a ridiculous amount of money to play a game. I hope nobody thinks that fosters some kind of mature gentleman's club behavior. Guys like Incognito are obviously just like spoiled little brats who have been given everything they ever wanted and never had to suffer through any sort of real-life situation. Its a shame the best guys in the NFL had to go through great personal tragedy just to grow up and act like adults. It is also why it is easy to respect the personal growth of guys like VD.. VD had the same type of spoiled brat personality that Incgonito has.. but luckily for us VD grew up.

Dolphins have fired longtime head athletics trainer Kevin O'Neill, per league sources. O'Neill was named in the Ted Wells report.

I saw this coming. A head trainer is not someone whose value to the team can overcome a high level of douchebaggery.

Read through the report. Both parties f**ked up. Incognito for obvious reasons. He's a douche and an a*****e. Given that this is the third team he's been kicked off of he should be done. I can't see a team willing to risk the s**t storm that would come their way by signing him.
I judged Martin a bit harshly after reading the texts. He was very complicit in the general douchebaggery and I figured he was bring a punk by blaming Incognito for s**t he was involved in. However, it just turns out Martin is a p***y and didn't know how to stand up for himself. I have no sympathy for a grown damn man who, because he doesn't know how to defend himself, plays along with derogatory behavior he doesn't agree with. If he was a kid, OK. But at 25 years old you need to know how to stand up for yourself. I completely understand laughing things off because I've done it plenty in my life, but when somebody crosses the line you gotta do something. This is even more ironic given he plays arguably the toughest position in all of sports. If anybody had done or said any of that s**t about my sister s**t woulda been handled right then.
Overall this was a very interesting insight into behind the scenes football. Martin needs to learn to stand up for himself because I could only imagine how hard his life would be if he had a regular job with these complexes.
