I wouldn't. Even though his production is peaking, he's still only getting a couple catches a game. I would love to target him 8-10 a game but that's still not our kind of offensive system...yet. In fact, he's producing exactly where he should in a Kelly offense.

negating what a guy has done when he gets the ball to try and get him cheaper is kinda silly in my book. He could very well say he could get double the production with better qb play in a system that's been throwing to their TE instead of keeping him in to block his 1st two seasons.

What do you think is a fair deal then? 4 yrs $22 million looks like a fair deal to me, compared to other TE contracts.

Remember when everyone wanted ertz and fleener in FA this off season? How's that going?

Fleener is played in a high flying TE friendly offense with a HOF qb and is underperforming and ertz has less TDs and yards then Vance

well , if his rep is looking for top 5 money bc he is tops in YPC, then yeah you break out the skewed stats.

In comparison to some over blown contracts, yeah that looks good.

Id be happier closer to $4 mil a year with some performance enhancing incentives that could pay him closer to your numbers if he reaches them

Excellent point. I too was one of those fans who wanted both. LOL. But then quickly realized HaRoman were more into using TE's to inline block, use extra OL and convert DL like Will Tuakufu into extra FBs (plus Miller).

It seems like fans still think we're running a high flying wide open offense here...while being 4th in the NFL in rushing.

I have no idea if that's how the agent would try to sell a top 5 contract, but in no way would any GM go for that or pay him $40 million and $9 million a yr (which is what top 5 TEs are getting) based on yards per catch.

$5.5 million is a fair number based on progress and continuing upside...he would get more than $4 million on the open market. He's better than players like Mercedes Lewis, Brandon Pettigrew, Brent Celek etc (who are getting $4 million a yr). I could argue he's better than clay, Pitta, Allen who all have $30 million contracts...hell Ladarius Green got a $20 million dollar deal based on nothing just upside

We got cash no need to lowball, give players a reason to want to stay here...because it sure isn't because of our winning ways lol.

Yup I think Vance does exactly what chip wants...great blocker, produces yards after catch, and is a miss match issue for defenses. Sign his ass! Getting while he's cheap

i didnt know he only had 373 snaps on the year

which is 32nd in the league for TEs......

Once again there will be huge doubts at qb this offseason, scaring away offensive weapons.

Right on the projection. On the $. He's doing exactly what he wants.

While we can all wish he'd be utilized more, it's not going to happen.

Let's just hope he can continue to make the most of his opportunities and that he ends the year with less than 10 drops (3 so far).

Can't do much in the snow especially when we ran the ball for a whole phucking quarter.
