Should the NFL implement a draft lottery?

Teams don't tank the season for draft picks. Even if a message board run by fans says they should.

nope, nope, nope. "Can't-miss" prospects like Luck rarely, if ever, are available, and even when they are available, they sometimes still miss. No reason to change the whole system because one dude looks awesome.

Nah. It makes sense in basketball because one guy can change the fortunes of a franchise a lot more often than he can in the NFL.

This. The flip side of that is also true, NFL rosters are far larger and a guy like Brandon Marshall may not go anywhere if the team sucks, but any of the relatively anonymous players could.

The #1 pick often comes with a coaching change, too. New coaches mean new schemes & new preferences, etc. If the new coach cleans house, than you won't be there next year to play with Luck, anyway. If the franchise is falling apart and your place there isn't secure, you've got play your best or you may find yourself out of the league next year.

Look at Indy - they've got problems on the OL and defense. That was no secret before the year started. Those guys aren't playing bad because they want to go from Manning to Luck, especially when Luck wouldn't start until most of their contracts are up anyway. You're not going to raise your hand and say "Hey, look at me - I suck. You should consider spending one of those picks at the top of each round on my position or try to get a high priced FA in here so our team has a fighting chance next year." Those guys are sucking because... well... they suck.

Same goes for Miami's QB's, coaching staff, DL, etc.

Or at least they aren't intentionally tanking the season right now. They might very well give up on the last two games, but quitting now is just a good way for most of these guys to find a way off their current team and probably out of the league altogether.

no way, thats one of the problems with basketball, a team can be by far the worst team and still miss out on a top prospect because of an unlucky lottery selection. i hate the lottery, i am a warriors fan and we know about the lottery lol

Gives Goodell more chances to rig things in favor of teams he likes
