IMO they should just pay the guy, hes one of the top in lthe league, coaches salaries dont count against the cap and we're entering a new stadium which will provide the team with a lot more revenue. even if you make him the highest paid, within the year another guy will pass him.
you do not pay super bowl money if you do not win a super bowl. i would not make him the highest paid coach in the nfl. if that is what he demands then you indeed cut ties with him in my opinion . now if you cut ties with him you do have to bring in a big name like gruden. when you are trying to sell out and pay for a new stadium after you just cut a popular coach,, you gotta make it a little easier to swallow for the fans and i think gruden would be the trick
