Flynn? Not unless he brings along Mike McCarthy, Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, James Jones, a healthy Jermichael Finley and about half the OL. Without those guys, Flynn is Troy Smith against Tampa Bay.

Our fanbase is clearly desperate for a QB. One semi-decent game from ANY QB nowadays and we have people that want to trade for them.

Give me a friggin break bro. We have decent players, we just need a new coach. He had a good game, is young, probably attainable, well versed in a WCO, has won a championship in college before, looks like he reads the field well and goes through his progressions quickly and gets rid of the ball quickly. Only thing he doesn't do particularly well is throw the deep ball and that's possibly a timing issue.
Honestly people think I'm just throwing s**t at the wall and seeing if some of it sticks, but a lot of good QBs have backed up somebody before. Just look at how Schaub was stuck behind Vick, how Hasselbeck played well when he was in his prime, how Favre got traded from ATL, etc. It happens all the time.
When I look for a QB that could do well for us, I'm looking for a guy that has played in a WCO right now because that's what we'll probably be running next year if we switch to Gruden, Holmgren, Morninwheg, Harbaugh, etc. I'm also looking for a guy that has good footwork, can read the field, throws the ball quickly, etc. Everyone loves Kolb and he's atleast semi proven, but I actually think it looks like Flynn has some of those attributes more than Kolb. This is coming from someone who liked him in college btw.
It's stupid to complain "well that guy only plays well because he has all these good players around him and he has all these good coaches". Well um dude, that's what we're aiming to have anyway! Just because we don't have all of it right now doesn't mean we won't next season if we make the right hires. Honestly, we played this game with Alex Smith and even though I like him, eventually you just gotta move on and give some more guys chances. We need a good QB, or atleast a contingency plan. We can't just keep ignoring the position until all of the pieces are perfectly in place because that's not going to happen. Eventually our current guys will get old and we'll need to replace them too. So just find a friggin guy.

Nobody.
We need one through the draft. We are going to build our own team. Just don't have Dingletary and NoWin doing the picking. Get a legit coach and a legit talent evaluator.

This. I would pick any of them up as FA's to replace Carr's roster spot, but I wouldn't give anything of value for them.
Draft.

Kolb would be the only legit FA prospect who could potentially lead this team for 4+ years.
If not him then a guy like Billy Volek would be a decent stop gap for 2 years IF we get a QB in the 1st round.

That seems reasonable to me. Although, I think it would be silly to get into a bidding war for Kolb. After all, we're merely looking for someone competent enough to man the fort for a couple years while our rookie is being potty trained.

Yep that's true. I mean, Phillip Rivers was a back up to Drew Brees for a reason. Man Rivers is going to suck when teams get enough film on him!

Don't hold your breath in the mean time! Rivers is an elite passer Top 10 for sure
It depends what we do in the offseason but to me the only logical choices are Kevin Kolb and Carson Palmer. Im not sold on Flynn. Drew Stanton
I dont know who to compare him to but i feel he's a finished product. Kolb however has a Matt Schaub potential while Carson Palmer, who is also a finished product, has proven to be effective. I think you take away those two VH1 divas and he could be successful.
