Leinart has mediocre effort; Fitzgerald gets knee iced

Matt Leinart dropped back, getting rare good protection on Saturday night. He locked in on Larry Fitzgerald, stared him down some more, and then led Fitzgerald over the middle for a 16-yard gain.

Fitzgerald went up for the ball and took a big hit to the knee. As usual, he held on the ball. Fitzgerald got up gingerly without incident, but was later seen icing his knees on the sideline and did not return. The injury didn't look serious.

Leinart left the game after three series in which the Cardinals didn't score a point. He finished 6-of-7 for 49 yards and took two sacks. Right tackle Brandon Keith was tossed aside like a rag doll on a bull rush by Mario Williams.

It was typical Leinart: excusable, but not inspiring. It was also typical Derek Anderson on the backup quarterback's first drive. Anderson was picked off on his fourth throw.

kentsomers

And that's why there is no QB controversy. D Anderson intercepted on 2nd pass. An ugly night for cards offense, so far

Jerome Murphy has injured ankle. Return questionable. Rams' hit hard at CB.
Cardschatter

Daryl Washington blitz two straight plays causes intentional grounding and hurried pass. Washington looking good tonight.
Bradford sacked a few more times.............

Rams need to remove Sam Bradford from this game. He is getting hit too much. Bad protection. Will not last if they let this keep up.

Keith Null replaces Bradford at QB midway through the third quarter. Good move. Protection not good enough.

I never read too much into preseason. But Titans just dissected Seahawks on that opening drive

Did the Rams even address their O-line this off-season???

......cause it doesn't look like they did.

"Russell, now go punch your agent in the face."

Personally I would like to thank Russell and hope that he takes his time catching up.

Sam Bradford completes six passes, takes four sacks

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford made his NFL debut on Saturday night, in the team's preseason opener.

The best news is that no joints on his body exploded like a kernel of popcorn in a blast furnace. Beyond that, Bradford didn't do anything to elicit "oohs" or "boos" from the hometown fans.

Entering the game on the Rams' first drive of the second quarter, Bradford completed six of 13 passes for 57 yards. His second attempt was a short ball that resulted in an 18-yard gain by receiver Laurent Robinson.

Bradford's opening effort ultimately fizzled on a failed fourth-down try at the Minnesota 36. The St. Louis offense then went three and out on his second drive, via three straight incomplete passes.

On the next drive, Bradford threw another incompletion on first down; he then was sacked on consecutive plays.

Though Bradford was expected to exit the game at halftime, he returned for a fourth drive to start the third quarter. After two more completions and two more sacks, the Rams punted and Bradford called it a night.

Meanwhile, Vikings backup Sage Rosenfels completed 23 of 34 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns, and the Vikings lead in the fourth quarter, 21-7.

They're going to get him killed. I'm starting to think that horrible teams should hold off on drafting a qb in the first round if their line sucks.
