Who do you think is the best Blocking Tight End? | Page 2

I was in a argument last night with a raiders fan, trying to convince me that Zach Miller is the best blocker if not better than Vernon Davis. I thought this guy was smokin crack, because i personally thing that Vernon Davis is the better if not the best blocking TE in the league. There was one play in the super bowl just before half time that Dallas Clark was covered by Vilma that made an impression on me. Vilma was acting like he was shading towards the weak side but when the ball was snapped he ran towards Clark. Clark was running a deep post (6 or 7 route?) but Vilma was able to stay on top of him. Peyton threw the ball out of the reach of both of them. There was no help from any of the DBs on the play. I remember thinking if that was Davis it probably would have been a TD or a different coverage opening up the other WR's.

Any undersized lineman can be an effective blocking TE. If you had to be an effective WR and a decent blocking TE I would have Davis somewhere in my top four out of today's TEs.

Best blocking TE in the NFL however is probably Brandon Manumaleuna from the Chargers.

i would agree with the bottom part. davis has the capacity to be the best if he tried every play. however, his false starts and occasional disinterest doesnt make him the best
