They are gullible because they believe what the people that are better informed than you are saying instead of what you want to believe? I think you might be the one that has been taken in by your own point of view. I am sorry if it hurts your feelings that Nate doesn't take the chance at an NFL career as seriously as he should, but that is what the word is. He is young though, and has a chance to turn it around, let's agree to hope some of Smith's work ethic rubs off on him.

Nate is not the first and won't be the last player who needs to be motivated to reach his potential. Thatis what coaching involves. Most objective observers see something special in Nate and he has to realize that that in order to thrive in the league he has to make an additiona effort. Some of you sound as though the man has been sitting on the corner all summer and drining a 40 ounce. Sing did not even imply that. He is simply challenging Nate to make that extra effort to prepare himself and Nate's response has been of one who is willing to accept that challenge.
People.. Nate admitted that he should of put more time in this summer, argument over, case closed. I don't think anybody actually believes Nate did nothing this summer, the fact is he did not do enough, by his own admission. Moving on now...

I don't think he has been sitting around the corner drinkin 40's, I think it was in poor taste for Whitlock to even use the term "hood rich". I just said that if there are those that question his work ethic, and these are people who would know, then I am inclined to believe that it is true. I am pulling for the kid, I want everyone on my team to succeed. You can have all the talent in the world and look like a stud in college, but if you think you can make it in the NFL on athletic ability alone, you will find yourself in the same boat as Leaf and Russel.
at the end of the day I believe in coach Sing, he is the one that has seen him train and the potential he might have... coach Sing best attribute as a head coach is to get players best effort and reach their potential, he knows what he is doing and I believe this will only help Nate understand what it is expected of him...
Ship him to Seattle. He's garbage.

You know what Nate wants most of the time? He wants to tell people he’s in the NFL. He wants to go back to his hometown of Bellaire, Ohio, and be treated like a star. He wants to hang in Indianapolis and pop bottles like he has Peyton Manning’s contract.

He’s young. He’s ‘hood rich. He doesn’t grasp the big picture. He has no idea that he won’t be the first or last quarterback with big-time talent to flame out because $500,000 felt like lifetime financial security.

And, like a lot of black quarterbacks, Nate is trapped between “keeping it real” with his leeching homies and accepting the fact that the quarterback position in the NFL is a buttoned-up management job.

dude is talking out of his a$$.....and F'n Singletary allowed this kind of BS by opening his BigA$$ mouth just because he is tired of hearing all these compliments of his 3rd String QB....he coudl've kept that in house and just told Davis himself. I've never seen him put Alex out there like that....Last year I've seen him throw Shaun out there like that too.

Nate said he spent his summer working on getting better and spending time with his daughter....but this Fker wants to lump him in with all those other black athletes who don't know how to act....straight BS.

also, I guess this finally confirms Nate is mixed with black, I guess we always presumed but he could pass for straight Latino.

And he got into Vernon just as much if not more. If this kid cannot take criticism then he's in the wrong profession. Don't go into Sing allowed this to happen diatribe, nobody on the national level ever mentioned Nate so Sing wasn't doing this to protect Alex and make Nate look incompetent. Its called player evaluation, its the coaches job to know what he has on his roster. All this proved was that Nate is where he currently belongs, at 3rd string.

What Vernon did was straight disrespectful to his coach...and it was in front of his fellow players and fans and camera...

if you want to say Nate was disrespectful to Singletary for messing up a few cals, in front of the fans, teammates, and camera.....then fine....but GOD knows how many times that means Alex has been "disrespectful" with his play.

The bottom line is you dislike Alex and are pulling for Nate so this bothers you. The real issue for you should be the fact that Nate admitted he could of done more. Do you really want a kid starting that isn't putting everything into it....especially at QB?

have I EVER said I want or Nate should be the starter?

I don't "dislike" Alex....seems like a cool guy (not a kid anymore) who really wants to prove himself and succeed....what I do have a problem is with how the organization pre-Singletary for years have treated Alex differently than the other players.... I understand his rookie year, and maybe his second....but Nolan AND Singletary have thrown other players under the bus just to baby Alex......I don't think that is professional...let alone fair to his teammates.

so when I see Sing put Nate's business....and it is all hearsay, because Sing kept saying "I think" and nothing was concrete about his assumptions.....and with that, reporters are able to throw any type of BS to go along with Sing's assumptions.

Nolan threw Alex under the bus with his injury. So far Sing hasn't had to say anything bad about Alex...that day may come but so far it hasn't. Sing is obviously doing this for a reason, so let him do it, I'm sure it part of a bigger plan that includes Nate in the long term.

Nolan threw Alex under the bus in almost his last year here.....the rest of the time, everyone else was getting blamed for Alex's play.....

I think that was a P***y thing to do toward the end of his tenure.....and I will call Sing a P***y too if he does the same.

I actually think it was a good move. I dont think singletary said anything that hurt the kid. I think he brought him down to earth. Everyone was high on him calling for him to unseat alex, but making this public was letting nate know he has work. Singletary obviously believes in him because he said "Nate has been working his tail off to learn the offense" that's a compliment you dont make if you are trying to get rid of a kid. He gave him constructive criticism. Nothing wrong w/ that. Honestly, I cannot disagree more with the racial remarks. We really need to get over that, and i'm not trying to anger anyone or get personal, but there is no proof of that and to make that assumption I think is extremely immature.

I think it is fairly obvious that Singletary likes Nate Davis, and is expecting him to rise up the ranks, provided that he works hard for it. I don't think coach would waste his time playing a player that long in a preseason game, and then being very critical afterwards, if he was not expecting a lot from him.

I really hope Nate gets to play the whole 2nd half. If all this doesnt lite a fire under his ass then i dont want him on the team anyway

Agreed 100%, I was hoping he would be able to be the second QB this year, but after hearing what Singletary and Whitlock had to say, I understand why he didn't look so great. I cannot believe how some on this site can actually believe he is ready for prime time, the kid has a long way to go.
Singletary likes Davis, that is why he made these comments. At the same time, he essentially called him lazy, which is an ugly term, especially for a QB with a learning disability.

Once again, is it style or substance that we want for this team. Sure, Davis has a rocket arm, and makes a terrific play time and again. At the same time, he was not that accurate (less than 50% for the night), only threw for 50 yards outside of his one bomb, and would need about 16 time outs in a 60 minute game to avoid penalties.

He is simply not ready in 2010, and Singletary is getting ready to shut him down for the year (third string QB's run scout teams, not take snaps). Singletary is calling him out to use this down time from meaningful snaps to prepare for 2011. [/b]

Which is the right call if he is not ready (I don't think he looked ready last game). I am disappointed because I really hoped he would be ready for the back up job this year.

I'm on the nate davis bandwagon. I hope Alex performs well as the starter. I will be pulling for Nate to get his chance to play.
