Why do teams go into the prevent?
Example of this failing to work today for the niners! You shut out the offense in the second half playing amazing D on the road! Why would you go away from that on the last couple series? Letting them get into a position to toss up a miracle?? Regradless if you have 6 db's, if you give the QB time he can find an open wr!!

absolutely sucks. what was the reason behind the creation of such nonsense of a scheme. like others have said it only prevents you from winning rather than preventing the opposing team from winning.

How many time has the prevent defense ended badly for the team trying to use it? It's so frustrating to see a team play GOOD defense for 3 1/2 quarters and then just throw in a scheme that basically allows the opposition the pick you apart. It's basically just begging them to beat you, and if they have a good QB and a tiny bit of luck they WILL.
