Except Brees was already a proven QB, with more than just one year worth talking about.
LOL im going to laugh so hard when he ends up sucking when he doesnt have the weapons he had in NE and the chiefs are gonna eat up all that money. teams can be so stupid
In 6 yrs, Most overpaid player of all time= Cassell
Did they not notice that Brady threw 50 TD's with the same WR's that Cassel had?

Cassel only threw 21 TD's last year

Lets see he how he does with a mediocre WR corps

It's one more good year than Stafford or Sanchez have had, and they have more guaranteed money. So did Alex Smith, so this isn't as ridiculous as it seems.
Chiefs are gonna surprise some people IMO
Chiefs have no OLINE

Upper management there can't see that .

Buncha morons...

A LEAGUE of morons.

Jeez..what an overreaction from the crowd. You guys wouldn't pay him that much to come here? We were rumored to have offered Warner wayyy more than that (yearly).

Warner is at least proven. Cassell is still an unproven guy

You're right dude, Cassell is just as good as Warner.

To think some people wanted us to trade for this guy. We would be wasting 10+ million a year on a # 3(maybe #2) quarterback.

He's a #1 QB on our team and it would have only been worth a 2nd rounder. Look at his numbers. Cassel Stats The numbers were better than most QB's in the league.

Somewhere, Scott Mitchell is laughing.

So is Frank Reich. Help me think of some others that were good back-ups who switched teams and sucked. I know there are more than these two.

Jeff Hostetler is comparable to Scott Mitchell (plus one ring). Funny thing--he was constantly booed when he came back to the Meadowlands, which always confused me, as he won a Super Bowl with the Giants. You would think they'd be a little appreciative?

Could Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac be placed in Scott Mitchell's category? How ironic is it that both of them went to Chiefs, too, after being backups?

Cassel with the pats had a pro bowl talent o line! Randy moss, and wes welker, cassel was given the keys to the ferrari. In kc, his car is nowhere near the sports car he was given before!

And yes I know this is football and not a circle track. I actually hope the guy well. But to say he was worth 63 million or whatever it was I can't say. I would have hoped if he came to san fran his contract would be more incentive based. Ya reach this mark ya get this and so on. He rode the pine his whole college career and even in the pros until brady went down!

I wish matt cassel luck tho! Hope he can make it in kc. They are a very young team. But ya gotta start somewhere
At least it was one good year in the pros. Mark Sanchez had one good year in COLLEGE and went #4 overall. That I don't get.

Cassel hasn't played in a game since high school up until this last season. And up until he played us and nolans vanilla d he wasn't good at it neither. He got nice n comfy vs us and well started rollin then! He was rollin on nolan! And that kicked his success to this huge contract....... wow hope for kc fans he works out. But man that's a huge contract for sure
