OL 2026 draft class discussion

Who knows how things will play out with Trent, but I could envision a scenario where they cut Trent; move McKivitz to left tackle, and draft a guy like Max Iheanachor or Blake Miller to be the starting right tackle. This would allow them to save a s**t ton of money at left tackle and OL in general. It would be such a Paraag move.
this is an extremely weak OT class especially at the top i think there re only like 2 OT with consensus first round grades

If that happens, and it isn't farfetched, they better sign a solid LG and pray hard all season

When we don't get one of those two (very well be gone by time we pick), they are better off getting Brendel's replacement and look for Trent's next year... any qualified / good centers after 2nd round

Cutting Trent would financially make no sense. Think there's a $34M DM hit this yr if they do that. Post June it's $15M and $20M in 27.

just pay the dude until he decides to hang them up. I think 3/20 he has like $10M GTD so that's when we will know

I do like Iheanachor and think he could start at LG and take over LT in a yr or 2. Not sure SF will go that route

This is a great OC class actually

He is already an extremelly raw player and i think plugging him at a new position at LG then ask him to play LT is a tall ask

He's raw because he hasn't played for a long time, I'm not seeing how pushing him inside next to Trent makes if harder vs being put on an island day 1. Gotta understand we're drafting at the end of the rd not the top

I'm not seeing this as a aren't center class at all

Brian Parker, Conner Lew, Logan Jones, Sam Hecht, and Jake Salughter i think all are solid. i think usually there are like 1-2 draftable centers expected to get any playing time this year i think they are 5+

Oh i understand nothing on the player himself i just dont think were at the position where we will draft a project with a first round pick. We have a few more vital positions to fill and he hasnt even played Guard from my understanding it will still be a bit of a project he ius still learning foorball and the basics if we were going to go LG in first id rather go Ioane or Pregnon. Get a developmental LT later in draft or what i would perfer is to kick it down the road to next years draft.

If we lose Trent different situation entirely

Edit: i am aware Brian Parker is an OT but he is talked about getting looks at OG and OC

Yeah none of those guys really wow me to say this is a really good OC draft class We will agree to disagree there.

I love pregnon, he's a OG and that's that. Iheanachor is our future LT in this scenario, but he can start at LG (with possibly an older FA vet signing for competition). It's getting a premium position with high end athletic traits and allowing him to feel it out for a yr or two…you can get him on field day 1 at LG.

FWIW there's lots of scenarios I'm cool with this yr. This is just one that makes sense

Fair enough but i think those 5 guys can start for us day 1 if we are going that route. Agreed it will really depend on FA

I have been looking at the Centers because I dream of an all pro center every year with this team....

I sadly and fully expect Kyle to run Brendel right out there next year, but this is his final year so I'm wondering if he would actually draft a center and let him sit/learn next season.

Some pundits also include Parker Brailsford in the list. These guys look like they could be solid players in time. Since I am assuming the rookie can sit a season and not have to start day 1, maybe it's more appealing to Kyle....I won't hold my breath lol

Everyone is clamoring for a WR1 and I am thinking wth does that matter when Purdy has horrible protection in the middle.

FWIW our pass blocking has been solid

Over the course of the season Purdy had the longest time to throw out of all QBs both in regular season and playoffs individually. pressure rate was also solid (meaning purdy was one of the lesser pressured QBs). Mac jones was similar rated in pressure but appeared to get rid of the ball slightly faster - prob cause our weapons got worse as season went on with injuries
