Iheanachor Really makes sense then since he has LG experience and could take over LT down the road

When did he play guard?

Swear I read he played a few games at LG. Maybe I made it up

Pretty sure you made it up

Also dont think hes as plug and play at LG as people think

Yes, we would LOVE a Day 1 starting guard, a Day 1 starting WR, a Day 1 starting safety, a Day 1 starting CB, a Day 1 franchise LT.

They probably have a better chance of getting a solid starting guard than they do a tackle since the good tackles usually go so early. I really don't care what positions they address in the first and second rounds as long as they get players that can start. Not depth guys or injured guys that they hope can play.

If we have Williams signed for next season, they could take an OT in the 4th to develop for the year. A LG in the first is fine as long as he actually starts which shouldn't be hard. If TW is not back then a OT in the first is fine as well.

Apparently I did because I can't find it anywhere. Well whoever it was I was reading on played predominantly at RT and 2 games at LG 🤣
Center Logan Jones is now rated #93 overall-short arms and all. He has 4.9 forty time. It means we'd have to trade up to get him but only if he's the answer. If you guys are really that smart(a couple of you are) please tell the rest of us what we should do.

This
I'm trying to identify who the best options would be for near term G and potential Tackle a few years from now that we could get in the 4th.

I think we will go "Skill Position - Most likely WR" in the first. Safety/TE in the second and then go after Oline in the 4th.

It was Jalen Farmer but he is shooting up boards. The class is not outsize zone friendly for guards past round 2. Your looking at tackle converts to guard.

JC Davis
Kage Casey
Alex Harkey
I think the "learn how to be a guard for a year and then switch to tackle after" is more of a fan made fantasy than reliable draft strategy.

The same can be said about drafting a forth round tackle and expecting him to be a starting left tackle in a year or two. It's very very rare that this happens in the NFL.

i wanted to bring this up but how many players in history were players drafted at LG played well then moved to LT?

As in played guard in college and was drafted as a guard and then moved to tackle? That's got to be an incredibly small list.

If you mean played some games at guard and then moved to tackle, theres probably some names. Andrew Whitworth comes to mind. But these guys are usually tackles just getting experience or helping the team get the best line on the field. Whitworth was a tackle in college. His frame was that of a tackle. His arms were that of a tackle. But he played some LG first.

Still might be able to get Farmer at #127. If he is there at 120 id be good with a small trade up pick swapping 139 and a pick in the 160-170s to secure him.

Agree. You'd have to be extremely lucky to stumble upon a high end starter in the 4th round. There is a misnomer that all draft picks are made with the intention of finding their next starter. Many teams are literally making a selection thinking they are drafting a potential swing tackle, 3rd string depth tackle, etc.

I mean yes in an ideal world you want that high end draft prospect, however there are a ton of day 3 guys that are currently good starting OTs. Off the top of my head.

Mailata-UDFA
A Jackson- UDFA
Zach Tom-4th
Lucas-3rd
mcClendon-5th
Van Lanen-6th
Spencer Brown-3rd
Raimann-3rd
Terence Steele-UDFA
Colton-5th

end of the day we have two good OTs. Keep paying Trent until he wants to retire. Go get a guard on day 1/2 that can plug in there day 1.

go get an OT when there's actually a good draft at OT or spend up for one. Always be drafting and developing OT.
