The same can be said about drafting a forth round tackle and expecting him to be a starting left tackle in a year or two. It's very very rare that this happens in the NFL.
I mean yes in an ideal world you want that high end draft prospect, however there are a ton of day 3 guys that are currently good starting OTs. Off the top of my head.

end of the day we have two good OTs. Keep paying Trent until he wants to retire. Go get a guard on day 1/2 that can plug in there day 1.
go get an OT when there's actually a good draft at OT or spend up for one. Always be drafting and developing OT.
