OL 2026 draft class discussion

Lynch essentially guaranteed we're drafting OL this year. Not really a shock though, as we've looked at several guys there.

Still absolutely love Logan Jones and hope we can get him somehow.

i like the idea of 4th round being OL heavy after going S and EDGE (no order) in round 1 and round 2. Ideally a C and OT that can compete at Guard

The mocks simulations I run I get my favorite results taking guard in 1st, edge in 2nd and safety, pass rush DT, another edge and another Olinemen in the 4th.

which OG are you taking first i think the only one worth a first rounder is Ioane and he will go in top 15.

Not personally convinced Rutledge can play outsize zone. His combine numbers did a great service for him and made it a debate. But on tape he looks stiff laterally and struggles shifting directions at speed. Im sure teams will want to confirm no issue with the terrible toe injury he had.

I looked at his measurables on the Bleacher Report big board and here's what they were:

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 316
Arm: 33 ¼" - a Niners requirement
Hand: 10"
40-Yard Dash: 5.05 - Excellent

10-Yard Split: 1.81 - Average
Vertical: 32 ½"
Broad: 8'8"
Shuttle: 4.54 - Elite
3-Cone: 7.54 - Elite
Bench: NA

I think this kid would be just fine in our outside zone system. Movement skills don't seem like they will be a problem.

Yes. I've mentioned the combine results. But then there's the film. Here are weaknesses complied from 4 or 5 different sources.

  • Footwork gets choppy when defenders cross his face with lateral movement.
  • Balance and body control remain inconsistent snap to snap, particularly in space.
  • Recovery ability is subpar due to tight hips and heavy feet.
  • Below-average body control and contact balance.
  • Has issues tagging moving targets cleanly in small spaces.
  • Unrefined footwork results in some uncoordinated, disjointed positions against movement across his face.
  • Stiffer player who struggles to change directions while on the move against moving targets

This is whats on the scouting reports pre combine. Now maybe he has the tools and needs to be coached up, or maybe running a predesigned drill and trying to hit a moving target do not correlate exactly.

Bisontis. It's pick 27 ain't no one we are picking in this draft that should be a 1st rounder that late.

Well we are talking about a 4th round prospect so he's going to have some issues. I think there are about 3 centers around this area I'd take. Jones, the Slaughter kid from Florida and the center from Indiana.
You guys think the Lomu kid from Utah will be available? On the consensus big board he's ranked in the upper 20s. I see him going in round 2 in a lot of draft simulations.

I have a feeling Kyle wants a OT in round 1 and take a guard later on.

4th round? I routinely see him ranked 45-75. He'd have to be a target at #58. Field Yates has Rutledge going #35 in his latest 2 round mock.

The 30 inch arms may be enough to slide him to the 4th for us.

I don't think we will draft an offensive lineman at all in this draft.

it just doesn't seem like a priority to our front office.

We've literally drafted one in every year but 1 year. Lynch just said we weren't done with the LG position. We only have 2 OL under contract for 2027.
Come on people. Who will be our starting center in '27? It won't be Brendel and it should not be a one year stop-gap vet. Will there be any of them available in the 4th round? Doubt it. Package two 4ths together for a 3rd and a 6th to get one?
Our issue is old starters who need to be replaced. First is Kittle. I Shadiq is available that settles it. Other oldsters are Trent and McCaffery. Juice gets replaced with an udfa. All are on offense so that rookie fast pash rusher can wait. Sign Bosa or Clowney-stop gap. Better yet sign Bosa for 2 years. Go for the feel good aspect and then trade them both to Miami-send them home to mom.
