OL 2026 draft class discussion

Man I wish the G Vega from Penn state fell to 27, the more I watch the more he's better and seems like star in the making. I personally think our 1st rd pick is going to be an OT to play LG until Trent is out, a name I keep seeing that I'm not so familiar with with is Blake Miller out of Clemson.

Blake Miller is a good player. Expecting him to be a day 1 starter at RT is tough. Expecting him to make the transition to LT is tougher. Expecting him to be a day 1 starter at LG is asking for trouble.

Which is why we 100% pass on Blake Miller with our 1st pick.

Iheanachor or Proctor are the only OTs I'd take with our first pick.

At #27 if not able to trade back give me any one of:

Iheanachor
Proctor
Cooper Jr
Concepcion
Mesidor
Howell
Haulcy
Pregnon
McDonald (don't care if he is an early down NT run stuffer - dude is elite. I like Collins but dude hasn't shown he's an absolute beast run stopper yet)

Any trade back to 30-40 netting us extra picks and it opens the door on 10-15 other players I'd be totally good with in the early 2nd with our first pick.

Its cute you guys made a OL 2026 draft class, cause we ain't getting none of them..
Another intriguing prospect is OL Kage Casey out if Boise State, he's a redshirt Jr, standing 6'6 weighing 310. Comparison is Samuel Cosmi, prob could be had in the 3rd-4th. Thoughts ?

This is the Shany and Foerster that they like to draft and develop. I like Iheanachor and Pregnon early. But I am sure they have other priorities in-terms of other positions so OL will get addressed later. I'm tired of getting disappointed again lol!
You would think with 49ers passing on the Trent Williams option bonus that this draft would be OL-heavy.

I actually think we have to, I don't think we can go out and get a ton of OL talent in free agency because it is so expensive.

The draft will have to be the answer at some point for the OL.
I like Freeling...great size, strength, athleticism. He started at LT for GA in 2025. I'd think Shanahan would love to get this guy.

You're misinterpreting what them passing on the option means. It means that he's gonna stay a Niner.
I am holding out hope that the Niners will do a 180 over past drafts and grab a LT at 27.

The problem is that several of players I like at that range played RT in college. How feasible is it that one of these OT could switch sides?
Max Iheanachor
Blakei Mller
Gennings Dunker

Which means their best shot at a LG/LT option will probably be (?)
Kadyn Proctor
Caleb Lomu
Caleb Tiernan

It would be great if Proctor fell to them but I doubt he will. His size and athleticism are what they need. He just needs some refinement on his technique. He could play next to Trent and play guard for a year or two and learn.

If Proctor could lose another 10 to 15 lbs, he'd be ideal, but I fear he'll go the opposite direction.

Lomu is the exact opposite though, great speed and agility, but a little light for run blocking. I remember reading that Staley really struggled to keep weight on. I think Lomu would be similar.

Weight could be an issue with Proctor. Maybe some teams will avoid him because of that. On the other hand he may realize he can be better if he sheds 10-15 pounds. They have better nutritionists in the NFL. It's not uncommon to see college O lines that are bigger than the pros.

i think its more likely he falls to 2nd round then taken in first. His agility is not great and he doesnt have the length to make up for it. I do think he fits better at Guard than Tackle. I feel speed rushers would just play a bit wide and can get around him a bit consistently without him gaining some lateral agility

The team really needs to invest in the trenches this draft on both sides and fight the urge for skill position players early imo.
