That's because after his freshman year where he had 6 picks at Purdue. Then went to Oregon where he was asked to play in the box but still had 2 picks.

He didn't seem to be only a box guy at Oregon. Just didn't see him make plays with the ball in the air from either spot.

He looked like a back-end playmaker again, intercepting three passes and returning two for touchdowns. Yet his biggest gain might have been in versatility. The Ducks asked him to play in the box much more regularly than Purdue did.

It showed NFL teams he can potentially help a defense in multiple ways. That could include one of the deep safety spots or as a sub linebacker in the box.

He's made tons of plays on the ball.

Will he come up and thump?

I liked him

Safety's never seem to go early in the draft

1st rd I think will be either OL or Edge, both much needed and plus this S class is best in yrs so in the 2nd I'd love Haulcy, he's my fav S, but I also do like Jalon Kilgore but he'd prob have to be a trade up in the 3rd for.

This year i see 3 first round talents at S i would be shocked if Downs and Thieneman dont get drafted in first i think EMW may as well he was the other first round one before Thieneman blew up the combine

Haulcy is also my favorite S in the draft, followed by Jalon Kilgore as well haha.

I want Haulcy in the 2nd round but we prob have to trade up to get him if we are lucky enough for him to fall to 50ish.

Kilgore I wanted with our pick #92 before we traded it.

Our secondary would be SICK if we added BOTH AJ Haulcy at FS and Jalon Kilgore at SS. Unlikely we will do that but Kilgore is way better than Mustapha and a playmaker. Haulcy a playmaker too.

If we don't get Haulcy/Kilgore, then a small trade up in the 4th to get Bud Clark if he falls a little would be good too.

I would love Haulcy in round 2. But the only reason not to even think about Thienenman in the 1st because Lynch will never take a Safety in that round. But I would be pretty stoked if they went Safety in the 2nd round.

If Haulcy is there at #58 I'm running the card up unless Pregnon or one of the EDGEs (Young/Howell/Lawrence) falls there.

Immediate starting playmaking FS from the jump who is a dawg and hits hard. Sigle is just not gonna cut it

This would be interesting, what would this say about this draft?

its a pretty weak draft imo its pretty deep but the top end talent is weak

I think in total there are about 20 players who will end up with first round grades by NFL teams after the top 20 its all jumbled together to around the 40-50 range thats why "BPA" approach will be tough in a sense because you could argue almost any of those players were actually BPA.

You need a solid Safety if you're gonna win a Super Bowl. 49ers have had some good Safeties, but only had one great Safety since the 90's in Tony Parrish. Man could you imagine Tony Parrish on the 2023 49ers Super Bowl team? Every Super Bowl winning team has had a game changing Safety from Ed Reed to Rodney Harrison to CJ Gardner-Johnson to Nick Emmanwori. I can't wait to see the 9ers get a Safety like those mentioned.

He was a real liability in coverage. One f the most overrated players in recent history. If the team thought highly of him, they'd have paid him.
