I'm not entirely sure about that. It almost makes less sense to draft a WR in the 4th now.

Youve got Evans, Ricky, Kirk, Robinson, Cowing, Watkins under contract. Thats 6 and you are only going to carry 6. There's no world where it makes sense to cut your 4th round pick, so somebody would need to be displaced.

To me that means 2 things.

1. Youre going to draft a WR that you know will displace one of those other WRs. I.E. draft a WR early and feel confident that you made an upgrade. Like draft Concepcion and cut Cowing.

or

2. You are really down on somebody in that group of 6 and feel like they will be cut no matter what, in which case you bring in a 4th rounder. I.E We've lost all faith in Cowing. Kirk can handle PR/KR. Bring in a 4th round rookie and we'll reset the developmental cycle again. In this case you might explore a draft day trade to move a WR.

I don't think Robinson, Cowing, and Watkins are secure at all. We could easily draft more than one receiver.

Cowing with the injuries, Robinson easily replaced. Watkins injuries and was a fourth rounder last year.

I think Robinson is the most likely man out. No upside like the other two, no speed like them, no return ability.

But hes also the most natural backup in case of an Evans injury.

Feel like we could draft a better backup for X.

Brazzell, Boston, Bell, Cooper, Sarrat, Hurst, among others.

ok so it looks like we may be looking at an early round WR after all... or at least kicking the tires and taking a closer look

Well we should kick all tires esp at WR, EDGE, and OT as we don't know who will be there at pick #27

I dont disagree, we badly need an influx of athleticism at the position. But you know how this team is with trusting a year-one player over someone like Robinson. They will keep Robinson until it is proven that he is expendable.

I dont think any position was ever off the board, and FA changed nothing except for DT.

Edge, OT, IOL, WR, CB, S are likely all in play with IOL, EDGE and WR being the 3 positions that id bet the FO is looking at the hardest

I love that we know the 49ers' type of wide receivers so well that we pinpointed KC Concepcion and Omar Cooper as the primary WR targets at 27, and they're both coming in for visits.

I've been saying it in here nonstop that he's going to be the pick. You can just look at KC's skill set and immediately know that Kyle is in love with him based on his drafting history. If he has no medical red flags, I believe he'll be the pick if he's on the board at 27 or if we trade down a few spots and can still get him in the early 2nd.

I love the additions of Evans and Kirk, but neither have anything to do with us selecting KC, since it usually takes some time for rookie WR's to pick up this offense. His biggest impact in year one will come as our primary returner and schemed explosive gadget plays.

I would think that teams bring in players for these visits based on if they like them and if they think they might be available when they pick. The last part is often more important when you draft late in the round.

For sure, the traits scream Shanahan. What really interests me about KC is that I can see him at so many spots in Shanahan's offense. He could be an X--a guy you'd want on the backside of the play 1-on-1 that can win against press and take the roof off the defense. A guy like that would force defensive coordinator's to respect the backside of the formation instead of cheating safeties into the strength of the play.

He could also be a Z with his ability to make plays with the ball in his hand. A guy you can put in motion and mess with defenses; scheme up touches for him at Z with screens, sweeps, etc. All of the Deebo stuff.

If we do end up signing Joey Bosa and KC is there at #27 he should be the pick. he provides YAC & also a solid Punt Returner. Having him mix up time with Kirk in the Slot will be dangerous, and this WR room will by far be the best we've had under Shanahan in my opinion. Evans is still a Pro Bowl Caliber WR & Ricky looked great and was 3rd in Rec Yards until that hip drop tackle aggravated that PCL. We can always draft a Edge Rusher & DT in the 2nd or one of our 4th Rd picks for more added depth.

WR1 - Mike Evans / Demarcus Robinson
WR2 - Ricky Pearsall / Jordan Watkins
WR3 - KC Concepcion / Christian Kirk / Jacob Cowing

If we draft KC, I wonder who will take that WR6 spot between Cowing and Watkins? My guess is whoever is better on ST. This will be the most talented and competitive group Kyle has ever had at WR.

i still dont think its as talented as Deebo Aiyuk and JJ but has the potential to be for sure
