We know speed gets taken higher and the combine is coming up so he's sure to rise because of his testing but another thing teams love as much as speed - size. And that's where Brenen falls short(no pun intended) at 5'9 170 lbs and only one year of production in college it's hard to see him jump into day 2, let alone into the 2nd round.

On top of his size and production deficiencies this is a pretty good WR class. I think Day 3 is where he winds up but we'll see in a couple of months.

After he kills the combine I wouldn't be so sure about that. He's very likely to run in the 4.2's; that alone will boost his draft stock

Like I said, we'll see.

Like someone else mentioned, theres Desean Jackson vibes when watching him play. He just moves at a different speed from most other players. He's not just a fast track guy playing football, he's football fast and pretty skilled overall.

Seems like guys like this hardly every make it in the league but for every 10 of these guys you have a Tyreek Hill that does make it. I wouldn't draft him to be my starting WR like we need but i wouldn't be mad if we spent a 4th or 5th rounder on him.

I doubt he makes it part the third, maybe not even the second.

If he was just a track guy sure, but he's a high character guy who is a fantastic football player who doesn't just rely on athleticism. Guy has route ability. Those guys virtually never make it to day three unless by total fluke.

By the way, my posts on the last page aren't a critique at all of Brenen Thompson but of Shanahan. This bizarre roster paradox of needing speed but keeping them off the field because they can't block keeps the offense in an infinite need-for-speed loop.

I think theres an assumption that Shanahan will adapt and adjust because really he doesn't have any choice. They need to get back to running the ball at will and then once they get a defense like Seattle to start bringing guys up, you need legit gamebreakers to start wreaking havoc throughout the defense.

Exactly these things. I'd love if we got him. Injury; too small, blah blah blah blah. Last I checked players of all shapes and sizes gets hurt…..especially for our team

You may very well be right. I would personally be surprised but speed is speed and the NFL loves it. Only takes one team to pull the trigger. Pats did with Tyquan Thornton in round 2 the other year(tho he was a much bigger WR)

Personally while I'd love to add him to the squad I have a bunch of guys I'd rather see us draft ahead of him and I'm not sold on him being worth a day 2 pick but I've been wrong plenty so time will tell.

I made this to illustrate the loop

There is a popular misnomer that Aiyuk was in Shannys doghouse simply because "Shanahan hates rookie WRs" and the consequences of said doghouse on their relationship. But Aiyuk did an interview on the radio (before all the contract drama) where he took 100% blame, stating he just didn't yet know how to be an NFL receiver, how to line up properly, how to present himself to work, how to *block*. Once he became a ferocious blocker, he started seeing the field with regularity, and for a while, looked like a top 5-7 WR in the league.
