Taking a Guard in the 2nd would get the champagne corks popping in my house! By the way, can anyone tell me if there are likely to be any good te's left in the 4th?

We going full celebration mode in my household if they take a guard or center in round 1 or 2.

Some folks don't see it with Lawerence

This is where I'm at. Can you fight through heavy hands? Can you bend enough to beat them?

He hasn't proven either to be true. He has some other good traits but he's gonna need to be so sound on using his strengths cause he's not close to a complete edge and to me that means not worthy of a round one pick.

we may have to ommit the first round pick if you are looking for a complete player with where we are drafting in this class. I also think there is plenty of tape of his hand usage and bend as well

Smh. Just have Trent almost $40M GTD so we should "plan for his successor"

I hate this train of thought based on the talent projected to go when we're picking. Hopefully they're planning on drafting OT later as their "development" option.

It's looking like it'll be Lomu or Boston tomorrow.

Kaelon Black-RB-Indiana.
Watched him in the Senior Bowl. The guy can carry defenders! He's the guy you'll want to give the ball to on 4th and one. Rated around #150 to 300.

This is the reality! People need to understand that at 27 of this class all you are going to get is a flawed player. Just have to find the one that can contribute and fit the system best with potential. Unless they take the best center in the draft every player at this point is flawed.

I dislike the development option for a late round tackle. They rarely work out. And at best they can be a swing tackle which those guys are a dime a dozen in free agency. Just feels like a waste of assets to me.

its a late round pick it isnt a "waste" to hope you get a cornerstone franchise premium player in a late round pick. Purdy is proof of that.

You dont draft him and forget about the position you see if he develops then when the time comes you draft an LT with a premium pick if he doesnt. The idea of spending a first round pick to sit on the bench for 2 years makes no sense

Fingers crossed for Boston especially if they plan to play Lomu at G starting out.

I also dislike drafting for a backup role, you can either play up to starting level or not. Try to get someone who projects to a starter and if he grows past the backup role you can trade for picks

I don't think his bend is a plus. Hey not a 3 down complete player. I don't think any of these DE that will be around our draft position are. I think there's so solid upside though.

I don't think any guy that we're taking at 27 is gonna have a "first rd grade" unless someone falls for whatever reason

I agree that it rarely works out, I disagree that at most they will be is a swing tackle though. We have proof of that not being true on our own team.

Drafting a OT in the 1st to ride the bench for two yrs is just stupid…especially on this roster and what SF is trying to do. We need those players to play.

And imo the idea of taking a rookie 1st rd pick and just tossing him inside (even though he's never played there) is a waste of a rookie contract, delays the development at his actual position, forces him to learn a new position AND he might actually suck at it…so then what?
