Niners 1st Round Do NOT draft list

to me him and walker are tweeners so they arent exactly 4-3 EDGE (they fit the mold more of a 3-4 OLB) so they would be purely a pass rush specialist on our team. As a luxury pick that its a good pick but we need a starting EDGE that is a 3 down player who can also stop the run

ya i wasnt super clear

For campbell i think in the NFL he will be a rush linebacker so he doesnt fit the 4-3 system (in my opinion). I was trying to say neither walker or campbell are great 4-3 fits because i see them as pass rush specialist in our system as opposed to every down players

Good question. I would take him over Jalon Walker because he is a proven stud at ILB where Jalon isn't IMO.

I'm thinking you must be confusing Campbell with someone else.

Alabama played a different style of defense than the 49ers use. That's why Campbell ws used the way he was. In SF he would be used differently. He has the speed and more size to be able to replace Greenlaw.

out of 781 defensive snaps he played in the box 637 of them. Which is exactly where he'd play for us. Last year he played 532 snaps. 456 in the box. Plenty of snaps and tape of him playing ILB which is where he'd play for us

I didn't say he couldn't play inside. I just meant that his assignments would be different in the Niners system. He's likely to be required to cover receivers more often which he has the speed to do. Alabama doesn't play the wide 9. They often played a 3-4 under Saban but last year employed a 4-2-5 scheme a lot.

I'm pretty sure Campbell has the sie and athleticism to play in any scheme as long as he's coachable. I'd be fine with taking him at #11 since there are a lot more good D linemen they could get in rounds 2 and 3. I also would be okay if they take a D or O linemen with the pick. Just get someone that can start and play every week.

What??

Jihad Campbell is absolutely NOT an edge rusher.

He's a prototypical SAM off ball linebacker.

As for Jalon Walker he could play off ball WILL but he also could be a very good edge rusher.
Shemar Stewart, DE TEX A&M- He has a 51% in Run Defense,Which is less than ideal even for a Def End /Edge and only 1.5 Sacks and
1 forced fumble Not good. Some draft reports have him rated as a MID.RD 1st. Which is Way too rich for the 11 pick,
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Production doesn't match the elite athletic profile - just 4.5 career sacks despite significant playing time raises questions about his finishing ability.
  • Raw pass rush plan relies too heavily on athletic gifts rather than technical refinement, lacking consistent counter moves when initial rush stalls.
  • Hand usage remains underdeveloped, often being late to engage which allows blockers to get into his frame and control the point of attack.
  • Struggles to convert pressures into sacks - generates consistent disruption (39 pressures in 2024) but can't finish plays at the quarterback.
  • Can play with inconsistent pad level, particularly when fatigued, negating his natural leverage advantage and allowing blockers to control him.
Hope we pass on Shemar Stewart

Walker is a 3 down player, just in two rooms, lives next to Warner on expected run downs, and at edge on expected pass downs.

So SAM in base then pass rusher on 3rd downs? IMO I just don't think he will be as impactful in this type of scheme vs a defenses who has exotic blitz packages and is consistently sending pressure.
