2025 RB Draft Class

Yeah, I like The Don. Good all around talent and did very well with his athletic testing. Terrific burst, good contact balance and always falling forward. Patient runner inside or outside with good vision and has the knack on finding the holes to attack. Good hands as a receiver and does a nice job as a blocker. He's a leader and I would be fine if we take a flyer on him late to round out that group.

Seems worth it as a late round flyer then.
SF has met with him multiple times. I'm telling ya

A round that SF might want to look at Rb's might be the 4th or 5th Rd. IF DJ Giddens RB Kansas State is there still ? This could offer SF a "Golden" opportunity to draft a quality Backup Rb.with future starting potential in DJ Giddens RB Kansas State without investing a higher pick in the RB position But still getting a "High Ceiling Back" in a value round. - One of his draft projects profile

  • Operates with outstanding vision and processing speed, seeing blocks develop and adjusting his path while maintaining forward momentum through developing creases.
  • Possesses rare stop-start ability for a bigger back, gearing down completely before exploding in a new direction without telegraphing moves to pursuing defenders.
  • Creates yardage through elusiveness rather than power, forcing 69 missed tackles in 2023 alone – ranking seventh nationally among Power 5 backs.
  • Proved reliable as a receiver with natural hands and route-running instincts, accumulating 679 career receiving yards and demonstrating competence on screens, Texas routes, and wheel concepts.
  • Showcases impressive contact balance through traffic, staying upright through arm tackles and glancing blows while maintaining acceleration through the hole.
  • Ball security is a major plus – just one fumble over his final 428 carries, revealing disciplined fundamentals despite his relatively late start in football.
  • Demonstrates patience to set up blocks, allowing pulling linemen to engage defenders before accelerating through creases with precise timing.
  • "He would be a very dangerous weapon as a change of pace back "Shanahan could use him on wheel routes to screen and DJ Giddens could take it for big yardage on any normal play, reason being is his "exceptional lateral agility between the tackles, creating angles and opportunities where none exist with sudden jump cuts that freeze second-level defenders in their tracks.
  • Plus DJ would give SF a potential starting Rb "cheap" if he there in the 4th round? But would be a "screaming buy" as a value to potential player in the 5th round imho"
Jacksonville and Raiders asked for his top RBs.

My preferred RBs in day 3 are Giddens, Tuten and Brashard Smith.

Rutgers alum here who watches every game. I'm hoping the thunder to add to the above lightning, if he goes undrafted or somehow SL double dip, is Kyle Monangai.

While he lacks top speed, he's an absolute tough as nails workhorse (best since Ray Rice minus the dv). Good outside zone fit and can catch out of the backfield. Because of our inaccurate QB and dreadful passing game, Monangai saw opponents pretty much gameplan exclusively for him and he was still extremely productive.

Brugler:
A three-year starter at Rutgers, Monangai was the featured weapon in offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca's zone-blocking scheme that was built around the run game. Despite being one of the lowest-ranked recruits in Greg Schiano's 2020 class, Monangai became one of the best running backs in the Big Ten and finished No. 2 in school history with 3,221 rushing yards (behind only Ray Rice).

A first-generation Cameroonian-American, Monangai isn't going to stand out as the fastest or most powerful back in this class, but he runs hard and decisive, following his blocks on traps and reaches to motor through gaps. His ball security (zero career fumbles) and overall dependability as a workhorse will be appreciated by NFL coaches. Overall, Monangai lacks breakaway speed, but he can pick, slide and weave through the defense with shifty quickness and run toughness. His competitive profile and promising reps on passing downs should make him an effective utility back in the NFL.

Seems like there could be some good RBs going undrafted. Surprised Martinez, Giddens and Gordon haven't been picked yet.
