Why can't we draft an OT next year if that's the case? Not to mention free agency and trades could also happen.

Let me ask you this, should the 9ers priority be to stop the run this upcoming season or worry about next season, right now?

That's exactly what I have been saying for months.

Unless TW is retiring this year what's the panic in drafting his replacement?

I don't think it's panic it's logic, we can use them at RT potentially LG if we some how get Membou and have them in the wings also Trent has been getting hurt the last two seasons. If Trent has told the front office he plans to pull a Jason Peters and play till he's 40 maybe it's different. I agree it's not a huge need now but if there's a top OT prospect like Membou or Campbell I think it should be considered because who knows when the next time we have this high of a pick and we need to protect our most valuable asset

Shouldn't be any panic.

We do need a T though to replace Jaylon Moore and in case Trent gets injured want to have a half-decent replacement. Thus getting one of Logan Brown / Chase Lundt / Anthony Belton / Charles Grant would be ideal in the 4th round. No need to spend a top pick on a T imo unless they are for sure bpa
My latest big board:

Abdul Carter Jr, EDGE
Mason Graham, DT
Shemar Stewart, DE
Armand Membou, OT
Derrick Harmon, DT
Trade Down
Jahdae Barron, DB
Joshua Simmons (healthy), OT
Will Johnson, CB
Ashton Jeanty, RB
Malaki Starks, S
Mike Green, EDGE
Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE
Will Campell, OL
Jihaad Campbell, LB
Kenneth Grant, DT
Kelvin Banks Jr, OT
Niners are having a former Linebacker announce one of the day 2 picks. Is that a sign they are drafting a Linebacker with either pick #43,75 or pick #100?

That means realistically we'd be picking between Shemar Stewart and Harmon at 11. Doesn't excite me in the least…man we really need to trade back. If I can one of them or others at 20, I'm much happier.

Conversley if Campbell, Jeanty or Will Johnson are there at 11, I'd do a back flip and run to the podium.

If all 3 of Campbell, Jeanty, Will Johnson are there at 11 I would imagine our phone is ringing. And I would let the offers roll in.
Just trade back to #22 with the Chargers.

Grab Walter Nolen there since reports are that we like him a lot.

Done move on to #43

It's not logic at all. We aren't spending the 11th overall pick to play LG and we aren't drafting a RT to replace McKivitz who is young, ascending and getting better every year, dependable and on a cheap contract. Plus TW has given no indication that he will retire.

If Membou or Campbell were some can't miss prospect then maybe. But I think both guys are average at best and won't be any better than what we have.

Both guys would have been the 7-8th best tackles last year. This is not the year to panic and reach for a tackle when we have so many other needs.

But we will reach at #11 because that's what Shanalynch does.

If latest reports are to be believed we like Stewart and Nolen. So if we can't trade back I've come to accept it could be one of them at #11 and hopefully the latter if so.

It's a sign that we're going to draft studs with every pick he announces.

JP was a guy I loved in that draft.

49ers totally spoiled me those back to back seasons as next year I was all in on Andre Carter. Nearly crapped myself after we moved up and they announced his name.

It didn't turn out to be as great as I expected but that year's 1-3 rounds were absolutely perfect for me with Carter, Jamie Winborn and Kevan Barlow. I thought we drafted 3 stud starters. It did look pretty good early on but Winborn and Barlow fizzled out.

But hopefully Peterson brings us some luck with the guys he announces being as good or better than he was.

Because they might not be drafting top 11 anytime soon. If OT is there and it's BPA go for it. OT is an impactful position that rarely becomes available via FA. They get overdrafted because of the importance and lack of overall talent.

Colton is more than likely gone in this scenario, which is fine. He's serviceable, but is absolutely replaceable. Trent has maybe 2 yrs left. Also Membou and Campbell can both start at OG for a season.

Not sure why people have an issue with this plan or don't understand it.

and I also acknowledge how SF works in regards to OL and what they value…I don't think that's where they go early.

Why can anyone assume that he's gonna be there? That's just one problem I have with these massive trade back scenarios…also why is LA gonna give up a plethora of picks in this draft? For who?

ideal situation is having 2 or 3 guys you have graded the same (and play an impactful position) available at 11 and moving back 2 or 3 spots knowing you will absolutely get one of those guys.
