What's his one trick? And good luck doubling him, just some bloke called Nick Bosa to deal with as well.
I think it would be funny if they drafted Jeanty just to see a lot of people freaking out. Actually that may happen with any pick this year.

There is a lot of projection in Walker into the NFL(which obviously isn't something that only exists for him) and I think a lot of people are projecting him to be Micah Parsons.

I don't think he's on that level as a pass rusher and I think it would be a mistake to select him if that's the plan. However I've also been wrong plenty of times lol.

I haven't been a huge fan of Walker BUT I will say the info provided by Dane Brugler in his draft guide sold me IF he is the pick. Specifically these two bullets

  1. Chosen to represent Georgia on the SEC Leadership Council in 2023
  2. Son of a coach — Georgia coaches praise his character (Kirby Smart: "You're not going to find a higher quality kid in any organization. … He is unbelievable in what he stands for and what he represents and how he works.")

And reading about his background - great student, played multiple sports, sings in church choir, etc...

Call me old fashioned but those traits scream someone you can invest in and you know that player will bring good things to the locker room and it's easy to see him doing the same thing onto the football field.

One thing he also provides(and something we've kind of struggled with) is a weapon vs mobile QBs.

Compared to what? Parsons' college tape or what he became in the NFL. For me Parsons is obviously bigger and even more explosive, he had more to work with to become the pass rusher he is now.

For me Walker is a better pass rusher at this stage of his career than Parsons was in college. He has nowhere near the ceiling, but he's got a chance with him bringing the other things you mentioned.

Hey, if we just get a running mate for Fred and elite QB spy we've not done too badly, but the upside of him at least giving you a complimentary 3rd down rusher to Bosa is hard to ignore for me.

Those bullet points reminds me of that TREYded fella. When that's your selling point. Good luck

Ha! That's fair, but they're really not selling points, just some sugar on top. He contributed in two roles for one of the best defenses in college. He has nasty, heavy hands, great burst and reps winning Vs 1st round Tackles, and much better reps than a DE on your team also expected to be a 1st round pick.

Those are the selling points.

Jalon Walker played for one of the top SEC schools in the country for 3 seasons. Last season he played 600+ defensive snaps and was a critical piece for that defense showing great versatility all over the field.

Trey didn't have 600 snaps in his whole college career with way lesser competition. I get the sentiment but I didn't include the other bullets...feel free to poke holes in them

  1. Long, cut-up physique and fills out uniform well
  2. Twitched-up and loose-jointed athlete who can turn the corner
  3. Displays promising feel for rush angles to leverage gaps
  4. Rushes with forward lean and power in hips to uproot and drive blockers backward
  5. Flashes violence in hands to swipe away reach of blockers
  6. Easy weight transfer in change of direction
  7. Skillfully uses long levers to stack and shed blockers in space
  8. Efficient working the edge and staying underneath run blocks
  9. Shows off explosive closing speed as spy and when chasing backside in run game
  10. Experienced box player with coverage snaps over slot

Long? 2nd percentile height and 6th percentile arm length at EDGE.

his coverage snaps aren't special. IMO in this scheme he's a DPR guy.

All of that and you wasn't a HUGE fan until your found out his dad was a coach and he was on a leadership council. If the tape didn't leave you as a HUGE fan there is a reason for that. I'll just stick to what I see.

Long arms compared to size, they're longer than Parsons' even though he's shorter.

There's plenty of room for him here outside of the Designated pass rusher role. Would be a nightmare mugged up on the A gap, and an elite QB Spy, can cover the flat and play a hook zone. All of that is pretty valuable and if he can then give you pressures opposite Bosa on obvious pass downs it's a win for me.

Agreed! I'd rather a mid round guy that Can rush from outside and inside as opposed to a guy who can Rush the passer and never play LB. We all like who/what we like. Just not my cup of tea.

Dude he's 6'1" with 32" arms. That's damn near zero percentile for the position.

yes Parsons is taller, which equals room to add muscle/weight. Parsons lower half is thicker than Walker. Also when the "hope" is he's another massive outlier… I'm not down for that at 11.

Folks should look at Nolan smith more than Parsons.

I think you can add a true 3 DE and a true off-ball LBer.

overall I wouldn't hate the pick, I'm not as optimistic as the couple Walker folks in here.

IMO we would still need to draft a true off-ball LBer and a base down DE. I don't know I guess I just don't see it…feel like folks are squinting real hard to see Parsons lol.

I'm still not a huge fan lol. I'm just saying that part is what will make the pick sit fine with me. And if I'm being honest I haven't dug much into him which is partly why I don't want him to be the pick.
Starting to feel like Mykel Williams may be the best grab if we stay out at 11
