The argument for not going DL in round 1 is because look at the talent available in the later rounds: It's insanely deep. Theres literally 40+ guys available who can make an impact.

Which makes it even more important to draft the BPA no matter the position.

And there's amazing RBs outside of the 1st rd. Stop spending premium picks on positions that aren't at a premium…plain and simple


I'd argue that #11 isn't actually a premium pick in a draft with only 3 blue chip players, and that one way to make it a premium pick is by picking one of those said players.

Last year all the QB's pushed other amazing talents down, this is no such year. I would not have been advocating drafting Jeanty at #11 at last year's draft, as players like Verse or Latu were available.

I also am not in this draft if any of my 2nd tier of players are available. I'm hoping that Harmon gets onto that list, as I think we might be leaning there and I want to be comfortable with it.

I don't think my philosophy is outlandish, have a plan, draft for value, but only if the player evaluations are close, you can't pass on superstars for role players, otherwise why scout and make evaluations?

Drafting a RB top 11 is the opposite of drafting for value. There's really no "yeah but" there imo.

It's a premium position that teams rarely let get to FA. Unlike RB where you can get good guys every off season….there's a reason for that.

So you said that you were not going rb with the 11 pick but here you straight up said you are advocating for a rb. Which is it? Your bias for a luxury pick is blinding the fact that this team has zero starting caliber interior dline. So from my perspective the subjective number two dline in this draft has way more value than a backup rb or te for that matter.

OMG I just don't know what I need to say for you to understand it, I have no desire 0 to draft a Safety or a LB at #11 this year, but if Patrick Willis or Ed Reed were there, you're damned right I'd take them. At some point talent has to be the deciding factor, or you just aren't doing it right

Yes, people are talking what a great player and pick he will be. I like Harmon to be our pick. More important, I think the 49ers are focusing on him in the 1st. It looks like we'll go DT in the 1st. It's our biggest need now. We paid extra attention to the oregon pro day. more and more people are talking Harmon and the 49ers.
Harmon had good tape and then a good combine. He has the size and arm length others don't. He has the speed. He has the character. He's good rushing the passer and stopping the run.
I hope for a small trade down a few picks to get an extra 3rd. Then take Harmon.

Harmon's respectful but alpha confident personality reminds me a lot of Buckner. This is a dude that will be wearing a C on his jersey in the NFL. I like his self-analysis in what he needs to improve and breaking down how he needs to win faster with his first move. I love the self-awareness. Also highlights that this is a guy that understands the art of pass rushing.

He's liar, pass on him. He said he's 6'5", he's listed at 6'4" and some change. Red flag right there.

Yeah great interview, seems like he's got his head screwed in right. Like him talking about the wrist and elbow grabs of Chris Jones, would be beautiful adding that quick win stuff to his game. I'm fully sold that he's worth the pick. Not my crush yet, might stick the 2nd Ohio ST game on. Interesting that he said Donovan Jackson, I only saw him have 1 or 2 good reps against him, good of him to acknowledge that.

7. DT1 Derrick Harmon - OregonThe redshirt junior declare has undergone a long development process after starting at 360 pounds in high school and transferring from Michigan State. Now at 6'4", 313 pounds, Harmon is a versatile defensive lineman who lined up all over the line but profiles as a 3- and 5-technique mostly. His elite 17% pressure rate stands out among interior players, and he does it with arsenal of moves. His 34.4-inch arms are a clear advantage on tape, and it helps him stalk QBs as they move around the pocket and win on bull rushes. He has a good first step (4.95 forty), violent hands, and can even turn the corner when he's stunting. In a small sample of rushing from the A-gap, he had a wild 22% pressure rate and often split between centers and guards. As a run defender, he can hold his own and had above-average production with 58th percentile for solo tackles among DTs.
