Discuss your favorite options.

I like Deone Walker (DT, Kentucky) and Kenneth Grant (DT, Michigan), draft both in the later rounds. Kind of like how the Eagles drafted (2) DB's in the 2024 draft...

Grant is a first rounder but too early for us to take him.

I've cooled off on Walker although if he can be had in the 3rd I'd swing for it.

True true, I was just looking at Buckner and was a top 10 run defender this yr in that Bradley scheme.

Im hoping that the new defensive staff will get back to being a little more creative and dynamic with the fronts and not being so static. Saleh started making little adjustments to the front before he left like getting into a 5-man front with the SAM on the LOS and reducing the wide splits by going into bear and tite fronts when they were getting pounded by the run. I don't think the answer to the run defense is just drafting a bunch of fat dudes, either.

I still think Nolan makes a lot of sense for the Niners. Ultimately, this is still a 1-gap attacking front, and from the little that I've seen, Nolan seems to be the player that best fits that role. They just need to have a plan in place if the run defense is still an issue.

Agreed

Our whole scheme is to stop the pass yet we don't have the personnel to stop the run.

We can still get some big bodies that have agility and can move.

*Assuming we lose Greenlaw in free agency and Mason Graham goes before us:

1.11- Kenneth Grant, DT- Michigan
2.43- Demetrius Knight, LB- South Carolina
3.74- Jared Ivey, DE- Ole Miss
3.99- Jamaree Caldwell, NT- Oregon
4.112- Jordan Hancock, CB- Ohio State
4.138- Billy Bowman Jr., S- Oklahoma
4.139- Jackson Hawes, TE- Georgia Tech

No to Grant at 11. He's Consistently late off the ball. I've seen some stiffness as a pass rusher. IMO he's more athlete than a technician at this pt. I'm not saying he's mazi smith, but I needed to see more before I can toss a top 11 pick at Grant.

I don't think Nolen or Grant are worth a top 11 pick. Overall I think the top of this draft is pretty blah, so go with the guy that fits the scheme the best and also has some high end potential.

We may find ourselves in a very awkward spot if we don't find a way to trade down. Just missing out on the top guys, having to address positions that don't hit our biggest needs or reach for guys.

Unless a guy like Campbell or Johnson drop to 11 a trade back is a must. Not even sure it's worth it for Johnson from what I've read , but who knows

Problem with trading down, someone has to want to trade up. Maybe someone would want Warren enough to make the jump but still doesn't seem like a great spot to be at for us. Likely a poor return on top of it but we'll see how it shakes out.

Watching the agility drills right now for DT(boy it's tough for the big boys with that change of direction) Caldwell did pretty good for a big body. Pegues also looked really solid. Will have to rewatch but best one looked like TJ Sanders. Dude was very smooth.

Someone always wants to move up if the price is right. You're not going to get optimal comp trading back in a draft class like this though.

Assuming due to comparable talent across the board?

No real high end QB talent and the true elite talent level really goes flat early on while the overall depth at certain positions is very good, increasing the value of 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Jeanty and Warren only 2 players I see having enough value to trade up for. Jeanty to get in front of Cowboys. With Denver being only logical team. Teams wanting to get in front of Colts(14) for Warren. With Bengals & Broncos as only logical teams IMO.

Outside of that someone will need to drop or team falls in love with an edge or OT
Don't worry guys, Mason Graham will drop to us because of his stubby arms
11 is way to high for Grant. I see him as a 2nd rounder. Nolen is the guy I want at 11
