Can't think of a more prototypical zone blocking center than Jones. Former TE and DL that transitioned to center. Has the quickness and agility to get to the second level but also has outstanding power despite being undersized. He's still incredibly raw and is learning the position on the fly but the physical tools are all definitely there and he's been showing steady improvement as time goes on, rewarding Ferentz and Co for their patience because he looked rough as hell at times last season. He's definitely someone to watch, even if you accept that Shanahan will never draft an actual center, ever again. Keeping an eye this season on Logan Jones from Iowa. Hopefully George Kittle can talk some sense into Foerster and Shanahan and help persuade them into drafting Logan Jones.

Someone like him or Parker Brailsford from Alabama would be great as long as they add some size/overall mass to their frames. Brendel isn't the answer anymore. Niners need a better option for the long run.

Yeah. I don't even want Brendel as a backup at this point.

Jones just keeps getting better. There's still lapses and moments where he struggles but for a guy who transitioned from the DL and has only been playing OL for a couple of seasons, he's doing exceedingly well.

Based on the season he's having, anywhere from early 2nd to mid 3rd depending on how he tests out, which is expected to be really well.

I'm expecting Shanahan to take a Center in the 3rd round at the latest, if not I really hope he took care of it in free agency. I'd take Nick Harris, Drew Dalman and Coleman Shelton over Brendel. Center SHOULD BE an easy fix this off season. IMO
