2025 Draft Prospect Watch List and Discussion

I think you can put him pretty much anywhere in the backend and he'll do well. Play him in the slot, outside, at safety...etc. Great combination of coverage skills, awareness, tackling ability and range.

His tackling ability at CB in particular is special, dude reminds me of Antoine Winfield Sr in that regard.

Overall I think we could do worse, but wouldn't be my ideal pick at 11.

Our best CBs last year were Green, Ward and Demo that's why 80% of his snaps were in the slot. We didn't pay him just to be a nickel he's paid to be a CB. He gives us the versatility to draft either a strictly a boundary guy like Johnson or grab a guy like Barron and kick Demo back outside.

IMO they play Demo at NCB because that's where he's at his best. That's where he played in 2023 as well.

like you said that's the hardest spot to play at CB.

if they view Lenior as our full-time boundary CB going forward than Barron does make more sense.

IMO it would be about matchups. Facing the Seahawks, Rams or Vikings you put Lenoir in the slot vs their #1 WRs. Facing teams who's #1 doesn't do most their work out of the slot you let Barron handle it. Being less vulnerable to motion matchups is a good thing as Green is capable of taking the slot guy as well. With how much motion is in the NFL it would be great to not have a "oh s**t why is he on that guy" moment

It's a great post about versatility, Barron looks like he's got that flexibility as well. I think if you just look at this year's tape Barron is the clear CB #1. Johnson needs lasts year's film just to be in the conversation.

I love guys that just jump off the screen, I wasn't even watching Barron, I was watching the Michigan DT's and Loveland on the otherside of the ball and dude just kept making plays. Looks like a stud baller. Also he kept taking Loveland with him being Michigan's main threat, dude is 6'5" and likely a 1st rounder and Jahdae took his lunch money. Size is absolutely no concern.

Can he play safety as well ?

I think the skillset says absolutely, it would honestly be a waste though, he has so much mirroring ability. Would be like playing Bosa at DT, could he do it? Sure, but why would you want to?

They had him playing single high at times in that defense so I'm sure he could but his best value is at CB, especially in a zone heavy scheme.

All I know is we need as many QBs, WRs, RBs and TEs to sneak into the top 10 as possible.

Our luck Cam Ward will be the only one drafted from that group

if we're trying to trade down... it would actually be good if Jeanty were there, MIA at 13, CIN at 17, TB at 19, DNV at 20, PIT at 21, LAC at 22, etc.... a lot of teams that could move up for him

same with McMillan, although I noticed a lot of mocks have going in the teens
it's really BPA for us, minus QB

most of us want DL or OL, but there's like 20 different guys it could be, depending on who's there
but this team needs help everywhere except QB, which is why trade down

I was taking about Demo.

Regarding Barron I disagree that his best position is as a boundary CB. I don't think he sucks as a DB at all.

hey did you know we just signed a Thorpe winner from a couple yrs ago in Tre Tomlinson? 6th rd pick who got cut from LA

Go read every single draft profile of Barron and tell me where they all think he will play at the next level. Yes he played on the outside (rarely played man coverage) what's making him a 1st rd prospect is not his play on the boundary. Which is my point.

I don't know man I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment talking yourself out of liking any DB at 11. It may very well happen if they don't get any offers to move down worth taking and see the DL depth in this class.

Saleh got to reap the rewards of a stellar 3 set of corners with the Jets, may as well grab a guy you think will be a star and make one position group iron glad if healthy.

They talked a bunch about getting a little more exotic in their coverages too, a guy with this level of versatility would certainly be a good addition just doesn't leave a lot of room for error on the DL or OL.

I've seen Demo as his pro comp, would not disagree

Sure the slot might be his best position at the next level; doesn't mean he can't play outside, he literally did it. I guess your definition of "can't" is different than mine; again, just like you always said Huff "can't" play single high. And yes you said Barron can't play outside; which was my point.

Barron can't play outside and they already have a top end NCB that they paid. DJ clearly isn't paying attention to SF's roster and needs.

My Thorpe award winner comment was more insulation to the point. Guess where he played most in college this season; when he won the award, and where he played most when he didn't.

And the thing is that IF we do go DB in round 1, this draft class is so freaking loaded at DL we can get 2 or 3 starters later on quite easily.

1.11- Jahdae Barron, CB- Texas
2.43- Tyleik Williams, DT- OSU
3.75- Ashton Gillotte, DE- Louisville
3.100- Jordan Phillips, NT- Maryland
4.113- Jeffrey Bassa, LB- Oregon
4.138- Logan Brown, OT- Kansas
5.147- David Martinez, RB- Miami
5.160- Teddye Buchanan, LB- Cal

I don't hate it, apart from Martinez. Nice job. I can definitely get behind Barron, dude is baller.
