Travon Walker 6'5, 275
9.5 sacks in 36 games

Mykel Williams 6'5, 260
14 sacks in 40 games

There's a reason for that if you watched Georgia. Kirby Smart rotates all his linemen. They are 2 deep. He did it with Walker and he did it with Williams.

Walker went 1st overall and had 10.5 sacks in his second year and played elite run D.

This is all true. But you just used a lack of production as a negative for Shemar Stewart. I'm just wondering why that doesn't apply as a blanket statement for Williams.

I'm pretty sure if Mykel Williams got the same amount of snaps as Shemar Stewart he would have had a lot more than 14 sacks.

Georgia Dlinemen are all basically part time players.

Theres also a big difference between 14 sacks and 4.5 sacks. Theres are one gapping NT's that have more production than that.

I wouldn't touch Stewart with a 10 foot pole.

First, you're using projection (pretty sure he'd have more sacks)

Second, your using benefit of context for one player, and not the other.

Third, while Shemars production was worrisome, Williams has also been unproductive.

Per PFF (doesn't count half sacks) in 2024
Shemar: 315 pass rush snaps 2 sacks, 4 hits, 33 hurries
Williams: 249 pass rush snaps, 5 sacks, 6 hits, 15 hurries

I have the perfect solution to this; draft neither
You're welcome

Hahaha, agreed.
Well I don't think he's worth a top 25 pick don't be shocked if they draft Stewart if there

Hollin Pierce is an OT I think SF should look at. Need to get bigger and stronger dudes. Round 3 he'd be a great get.

If you drew up a tackle for an outside zone scheme and for what Shanahan needs to run his offense that guy would be the EXACT OPPOSITE of Hollin Pierce.

Pierce has zero agility or mobility and is better suited for a power run game. Hes going to get killed vs speed rushers on the edge. I think he's a guard in a power scheme

We traded Trent Brown because he wasn't a fit. There's no way we draft this guy.

What about Belton?

Seems like a guy who can take over for Trent and play LG or RT in the interim.

We haven't been an outside zone team for about 3 years, the lineman still have to move as we do quite a bit of inside zone, but it's not as big of a deal as it used to be.

Wrong.

4. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERSZone Blocking Percentage: 74.5 percent

Primary Zone Concept: Outside Zone (56.1 percent)

The 49ers have used a lot of zone runs, as would be expected with new head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense in town this season. They have been pretty balanced though between the zone concepts they have used, and not just run outside zone all day long. On zone runs they have gained 4.4 yards per carry, and 1.7 of those before first contact.

I like both to an extent but the lack of production is disconcerting. Especially when you consider how many opportunities both had to straight up mush and out-athlete lesser linemen.
