Bro what you talking about he NEVER played man. Pull up his film vs Marvin Harrison dude went toe to toe with the best college WR in man coverage and held him to 3 receptions. He jammed Marvin out the club and most CBs in the NFL aren't jamming at the line it's normally off coverage and zones that become man. I get it he's not your preferred pick but you do this every year where you tear down prospects you don't want us to draft and normally I agree but you can miss me on this one my preference isn't CB but Johnson's a dog.

And you do the same s**t

Uh yeah you were wrong; Cooper was one of the best man coverage corners in football lol. You do know that you can play man without "pressing" right? Like I said, I won't get into it with you over this one. And FWIW, playing slot cb is much harder than playing outside

I completely understand what the difference is. He never lined up at the LOS playing press. That's vastly different than playing off in man as a NCB.

we have a NCB who's damn good…got him in the 5th last I checked. There's a reason why outside CB going higher in drafts.

Please show me.

I didn't see much as far as press man goes?

im not tearing him down, I don't think he's a straight up lockdown press man CB. I think he's much better as a zone CB and I don't think that's something you need to spend up for. Hence why we don't usually draft CBs early

Who gives a flying f**k about pressing? He plays off man at an elite level which is more common than playing at the line. His clip of bouncing Marvin wasn't in that YouTube video. https://youtube.com/shorts/WD4Ve90xmRU?si=LDCX7PvW_V13utpM

You're the one who said he "NEVER" plays man which I'm guessing is hyperbolic but acting as if Johnson is just a zone CB is laughable.

No I meant press man…I know he's played off man coverage. I think he's better as a zone coverage CB end of the day. I also question Johnson's long speed. Thank you for the clip. It's for sure not abundant in his film.

I care about playing press for my top CB. I'm so sick of seeing guys 10 yards off the LOS and want my top CB up in a dudes face not allowing s**t.

Look I said he's a scheme fit and would play a ton here from day 1, bad pick? No. I think SF can find CBs that fit what we need later. That's all

We agree on him not being our first second or third pick. I think press man is only good in situations and usually just puts a CB in a bad position and as soon as a QB sees it's press man they are gonna set up rub routes and press man beaters. Johnson's long speed is a question that needs answering and him not working out is an issue. But if he does only have decent long speed (4.4-4.5) it would make even more sense why he wouldn't be pressing at the line.

Yeah I'm on record saying it wouldn't be a bad pick. I also think we probably go in a different direction other than CB.

Brah! Your initial comment was we don't draft CBs early because we play zone. Will Johnson looks like the best zone corner in the draft. However, you said you wouldn't take him because he doesn't play man.

When you get to a point where with a prospect you don't want this is the merry-go-round we all watch you continue to put your quarter in.
I can see drafting a CB, DT, OT or LB with the first pick. We need help in all of those areas. As long as whoever they take ends up starting I'm okay with it.

I'd say getting hot and bothered for any prospect is premature and we all know it. Free agency will come and we will sign some vets that fill holes where we will have a better idea who's getting drafted. I just hope Free Agency begins with us signing Greenlaw.

I get what you are saying.
I would be perfectly happy with Will Johnson at #11. I think you can find other good CB's that can play in this scheme but he has the potential to be truly special in any scheme. Tremendous ball skills and awareness, quick to jump on errant throws, has lockdown CB upside in the NFL.

That said....

Well naturally I don't even consider him a free agent

I'd be pretty happy with this offseason except Princely.
