Thank you!

Yup. Just a pure run defender would do wonders.

I think we can definitely get one or two guys that fit that profile in the middle to rounds. I'm kind of early in the process to have any particular names in mind. I'm waiting until after the Super Bowl to do a deep dive.
Currently scouting Braden Fiske out of FSU. I like what I see. He was double-teamed A LOT it seemed like, and still was able to make plays at times stuffing the run with a little bit of pass rush. 9 TFL, 6 sacks, 5 QBH. Looks like a decent target for depth.

Jaylon Hutchings out of TX Tech looks nice as a plugger as well. Probably getting knocked because of short arms, but I'd take him late or as a UDFA/depth/PS guy.

I know he flashed during the Senior Bowl. If I remember right, they even asked him to switch teams late in the week.
I've focused primarily on NT/2i players so far, but we will probably need to look at successors to AA too with his body breaking down lately.

That said, from what I've seen so far.. Not liking our chances of getting a great DT in this class. Class seems super top heavy. If you don't get one in round one or 2, the value to me isn't there until the 5th and beyond.

Only guys that might warrant a 4th would be McKinley and Fiske. Need to see how their combine goes.
Liking what I saw initially from Boyd DT from shrine practices. I knew Phoenix wouldn't miss him. Someone to look into more and keep and eye on.
Big run stopper but quick too

This is someone who really caught my interest as well. As a pass rusher, he seems to win primarily with a push-pull-swim or push-pull-rip. Wonder how that'll translate vs better competition given his short arms (3114), as he may struggle to land first hands and lock out vs longer armed defenders

I'm on board, I think he'd be great here!

Fiske looks like he has the quick first step the Niners like, he would be a nice addition to the rotation for sure
I just read the scouting report on Fiske. I don't doubt anything they say but it's really funny how they note every little thing like flexibility on certain types of plays of balance when making a move. I wonder how many of these observations are consistent and how many are something they saw in one clip.

It sounds like the guy can play but they try and pick these guys apart for every little thing.

Gonna watch this dude later. The measurables at least fit the bill.

This is the guy I really like clogging up that middle.

If we're looking for a 3T on day two, I'm very confident that Shanahan will pound the table for DeWayne Carter out of Duke. Talent is undeniable, and he has the same name as Kyle's favorite rapper.

As an aside, neither Khristian Boyd nor Evan Anderson were invited to the combine, which is a good sign they will be available late in the draft - a win for us potentially
