I put this right up there with Creed Humphrey in 2021. We could've had him with the Aaron Banks pick.

We already know this team (Foerster and by extension Kyle) prioritizes skill position over OL. But I'm beginning to think their evaluation of OL prospects just isn't good. Frazier or JPJ were my guys in the first. I like the Pearsall pick, but it baffles me how Kyle can be content with Brendel.

Which has always been the fair criticism. Too many posters argue that the team doesn't care about OL. They do care. Seem to just struggle to evaluate it properly.

Because Foerster said we should draft players that score TD and he can find gems later to develop. He thinks he's like Bobby Turner of RB. Damn many want us to reach a little for Frazier, Beebe. Well, we got f**king Brendel.

If the kid can play take the muther f**ker!!!! I hate all these damn reasons coaches have when drafting players in the NFL. I understand not drafting players due to off field issues, but these f**kin coaches out smart themselves all the time. Some times the fans do get it right when drafting players, where would the 9ers be if they let me pick:

2004 - Me: Vince Wilfork - 49ers: Rashaun Woods
2005 - Me: Aaron Rodgers - 49ers: Alex Smith
2017 - Me: CMC - 49ers: Solomon Thomas

Those are the three that stood out to me the most. 2024 is still in question and Pearsall could be a very solid pick, but not the way I would've went that's for sure.

At #31, off the top of my head, I really wanted Kingsley Suamataia, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Zach Frazier, Cooper DeJean, Kris Jenkins, Braden Fiske.
It's too bad that the Niners can't just jump up and take every guy they like. Also too bad they can't draft after the players have a year to show their ability.

Yah when they outsmart themselves, they come back and spend a boatload of picks on a player they could've got with one pick. And in this case I'm talking about CMC. Now what was the reason you think on why they took Solomon Thomas over CMC? Did Thomas really stand out much more than CMC did at Stanford?

Thomas was highly rated coming out of college. He just never has been able to duplicate that success in the NFL. At the time Kyle and John were concerned about building the defense. They felt they were okay at RB with Carlos Hyde. Obviously they would have been better off with CMC. Or would they? Remember the team wasn't very good at that time. Without all the other weapons how effective would CMC have been? No way to know.
Either Frazier or JPJ would be huge upgrades over Brendel. With all of the skill position players paid, the Niners have to change their draft philosophy for at least one year. Time to rebuild offensive line to support all the skill position players they have in place.

And CMC wasn't highly rated? And yes they would've been better off with CMC, he didn't start the first year in Carolina but still rushed for 430 yards and two TD's. I think it would've been more if he was in SF, even Hyde had almost 1k yards his first year with Shanahan. Yes I remember the team wasn't very good, but even in their rookie seasons, CMC was even more of a standout player. And even with all the weapons on offense in 2024, CMC is still the biggest lost on game days.

And with that said, Kingsley Suamataia, Zach Frazier and Jackson Powers-Johnson were all rated higher than Pearsall coming outta college. So Solomon Thomas being highly rated doesn't mean a thing.

And as of right now, they would've been a huge upgrade over Pearsall.

Not a good center crop this year. Better off trading for someone like Erik McCoy.

I like (in no order):
Parker Brailsford, Alabama
Jake Slaughter, Florida
Jonah Monheim, USC
Logan Jones, Iowa

Brailsford and Jones are perfect fits for this offense as centers but both come with particular issues. Brailsford, how will he hold up against NFL DT's that regularly outweigh him by 25-35 pounds or will he be able to put on enough weight without sacrificing his outstanding movement ability. For Jones its just continued progression as he learns the nuances of playing on the OL and center in particular.

One guy that I like a lot football wise is Clay Webb of Jacksonville State, he has outstanding talent but the f**ked up stuff he did in high school might even follow him into the NFL.
Might be the best center in football by the end of his rookie season and the 49ers said "nah."

In the college the guy broke his leg and quickly crawled off the field so his team wouldn't have to burn a timeout. He was just destined to be a monster.
