So glad people here don't draft,...lol.
How many CB's have we drafted the past 4 drafts?
Free agency is the way to go for O-line & CB's for us.
Lynch last 4 drafts = 5
Balke's last 4 drafts here = 9

Wanted to edit this to add QB because the curse has struck again. Why can't the Niners get right at the most important position in football? As someone said this morning, it's probably payback for having two back-to-back Hall of Famers in the 80's and 90's.

3rd round - We need a new 5th string RB.
3rd round - A CB with a 6th round grade.
3rd round - A WR to fill special teams gunner role. Preferably with no return experience.
5th round - TE that cant catch
5th round - College tackle that cant play tackle so we move him to guard. No center experience is preferred.
5th round - Pass on ideal cover 3 corner at 6'3 with 4.2 speed for an undersized slot corner
6th round - We need a new 4th string RB.
7th round - DT to cut
7th round - Slow safety. Probably starts soon due to injury.
7th round - Run blocking WR.

Excellent topic!
IMO - RT is still an issue, McG is a fine run blocker - w/Purdy or Trey we'll be passing more than w/JG. Need a quality vet and a developmental guy to make a difference.
CB - our secondary was the weakest part of the D
C/G - a guy who can play both.
Take the best player available in these positions as they fall to us

Kinda funny that even with our whiffs, we still are among the top 10 teams in drafting the last 6 years.

OL definitely is a need, especially with the possibility of losing McGlinchy to free agency and Trent getting on in years. As for QB, I agree, I'd love to see if they can get another Brock Purdy 2.0 in the draft somewhere. They should bolster that QB#3 spot, considering they used all three QB spots this last year.

Tampa D-line destroyed the Chiefs OL in that SBowl.
KC went out and fixed it and even though they lost a super receiver in FA their OL played fantastic!

Circling back to this. With Brendel back in the fold and the big DT signing, I'm thinking the new top three priorities, in no particular order are OT, EDGE & S.

OT, edge, safety and corner. Every year we have 2 decent corners, and a bunch of question marks. Let Moseley slip away for nickel money. Now demo starts. Then what? Womack. After that nothing

My votes are for LB, DL and OL. But, Lynch or Shanahan (or both) have a knack for spotting DL talent sitting on the bench with other teams. They are not loathe to work out a trade for a late round pick, or a late FA signing for an under-the-radar player who has the kind of skills this team values.

Linebacker isn't close to being as important of a need as corner, edge, and safety. A 3rd LB isnt even on the field much of the time

Agreed. You can probably add nickleback as well, unless we take someone like Jammie Robinson of Florida State that can play both safely and nickleback similarly to Jimmie Ward.
