2021 Draft is Over and...

Browse 49ers books and videos
We trade up for a franchise QB and then addressed OL and secondary needs. Sure there are some players we like more but it made sense once you get to know the players selected. I would have liked an Edge and a WR, but it looks like they feel good on some of the players with question marks moving forward. The offseason which includes the free agency signings allowed them to addressed all the needs in this draft. So for me, I was happy with this draft and give it an A- for awesome!

My grade as well. And alot of that is Day 3 seemed very underwhelming.

Don't mind Trey Sermon but feel he would have been there top of the 4th and could have used that 2nd 4th on a WR/TE(Jaelon Darden/Brevin Jordan)

Most pundits saw Sermom as great value where we got him. He could have easily have gone earlier. Waiting til the 4th would have been risky.

Coaches fall in love with a player and take them. Mel Kipers big board means nothing, if they felt that Sermon passed all their evaluations and was being overlooked, why not take him? They might have had him graded as their best back... you never know.

I dont necessarily think it was too early for Sermon (love the player, RB4), but too early for RB
I am pretty happy with the draft.

I really like Sermon as an offense fit for the 49ers.

If You put these 3 secondary players on the same college team , you would probably be dealing with one the most physical secondaries in the entire nation.

What i love the most about the group is they had solid production with imperfect situations.

I don't know a thing about the lineman, but I am damn happy effort was made to address the issue. At least we stand a chance of setting up Lance with some semblance of protection.

I was not a Lance guy, I would not have drafted him....but WOW...if shanny has faith in Lance that is the best possible situation we could ask for. Lance seems to have everything other then Experience.

I was listening to a pod cast posted on here, and the coach Lance has been working with for the last year was talking about how Lance lacked any formal QB training....he was getting by on physical ability and memory retention.

That's nuts.

The coach went on to say how the best possible scenario for Lance was getting to work with him for the last year before his time in the NFL to really turn him into a consistent product. That makes total sense, and yeah... I agree with that. The best thing that could have happened to Lance was daily tutoring by a world renown QB developer.

The coach was talking about how he has never seen a player with the mental resources that Lance has. He did not use the word prodigy...but he use every damn word in the dictionary other then that. The way the coach was gushing about Lance sounded very, verrryyyy genuine.

Forget the arm, forget the legs for a min....it really does seem Lance has a very unique brain and ability to process information.

It seems we have the perfect QB prospect, with the Perfect coach and we already have offensive weapons on the team. This could be an amazing time for the 49ers.
I'll give it a B+ for now.... If we can get a healthy franchise QB, beast of a OG, Sermon is a 1000 yard RB, and any one of the DB's pans out then it'll be a A+

I was team Lance all the way but this is an awesome post, loved our picks this draft
Had a solid B, but now a B+ for me. Was hoping they drafted a WR but signing Austin Watkins who many thought was going to get drafted in the mid rounds was the plus....

I really liked day 1 and 2. Day 3 I wasn't much of a fan of but hopefully I will be proven wrong there.
This draft is an easy A for now. Not taking a CB higher, a backup backup pass rusher, 3rd string TE, or 4th or 5th receiver does not drop the grade.
B+. Love the picks. Just not a second runningback pick, considering how well we do with UDFA RBs
