They will probably take away 102 instead of 103 too!

Lost Mayhew/Saleh in the same off season they get and extra 3rd in 2021-2023.

IF they lost only one of them this yr and lost one in 2022, they would get 1 3rd in 2021, 2 3rds in 2022, and 1 3rd in 2022.

Tell me how that adds up

I remember reading that if you lost 2 coaches in one year you only got one extra pick the second year. So they get a 3rd for Saleh this year and next and a third this year for Mayhew. They don't get an additional 3rd for Mayhew next year. I heard a followup on KNBR that there is some confusion on exactly how many they are getting so stay tuned. It's a new rule and the league is trying to figure it out.

If you lose 1 you get a 3rd in 1 year and the next. If you lose two in ssnr year you get a 3rd for 3 straight years.

NY85 is right. The math doesn't add up

Well I'm all for that extra 3rd this year.

Seems this franchise is always the guinea pig for new obscure cap/draft rules.
why do the 49ers always have 1 or 2 great picks, and then 200 late rounders

Yeah I really don't like that gap between 43 and 102. Lots of talent there.

(i) The employer-club of a minority employee who has been hired by another club as its Head Coach or Primary Football Executive (General Manager) shall receive Draft choice compensation in the form of a compensatory Draft pick in the third round in each of the next two Drafts for an employee hired as either a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive, or for the next three Drafts if it has two employees hired for both positions. The reference to the hiring of employees into "both positions" could be by the same club or different clubs.

If I got the text of the resolution right, then Mayhew and Salah gives us three 3rd round picks for the next three years. I think this means the NFL needs to reduce those 2 third round comp picks given this year to just one. Darn.

That now looks like wha they are doing. Niners end up with 10 picks One each in rounds 1-4, 3 in the fifth, one on the 6th and 2 in the 7th. Still not bad. Plus you can still trade those future 3rd rounders if you want to.

Right it's so weird.

teams are better off losing a guy in back to back yrs vs the same, when it comes to compensation...which doesn't make sense.

it should just be you get a 3rd in back to back drafts for each guy. Two in 2021/2022 and call it a day.

Agreed or just give back to back 3rds for each guy lost and leave it at that.

True although I'm glad that we are getting picks at all, and of course that Saleh and Mayhew have been given their new opportunities. Win win. Last year we would have been out of luck.
