BTW That list is assuming we re-sign Trent Williams.

Basically, the 4 most important positions on any team, save LT.

Nice.........

This.

Given our remaining schedule we may be in position to draft one of the top QBs. Imo, it would be a huge black mark on Shanahan and Lynch's regime if they were to pass up getting a young FQB in the 1st. After that, C is the position of greatest need on the OL (I'm assuming that Trent is resigned) and maybe they use our 2nd to get one.

*The numbers are my order of need.

We can't not take a CB in round 1 or 2. Farley from VT (6'2), Surtain from Bama (6'2) and the guy from SC is 6'1. All 1st round grades.
Where do we stand now with all the FA signings? For this year, I see
- backup QB who can win games if JimmyG gets hurt.
- #3 WR since everyone behind Deebo and Aiyuk are suspect
- primary backup CB behind Verrett, Moseley & Williams

Our recent FA signings have certainly made for a more flexible draft...a lot of BPA for sure. Would like a long-term QB pretty early.
As many have said, we are well set up to trade up for franchise QB...unless Kyle thinks that is Mac.
One of the better free agent off seasons we have had in terms of filling holes which allows us to draft BPA.

looks like our FA plugged in the holes it needed to. if I'm looking at draft priority at this point in time
QB to groom > Someone to push McGlinchey > Depth Corner > Depth Edge > WR3

I know Jimmy is a wildcard, but if we are looking long term, if he can't prove he can stay on the field, we will HAVE to get cheaper at QB with Warner / Bosa extensions on the horizon. If he stays healthy, then the guy being groomed can stay behind Jimmy and we just have to work out who to let go. I'm hoping Jimmy can stay healthy, but with the FA moves it really looks like a swing for a QB
A lot of one-year contracts so pretty much any position could be addressed in the first round, excluding specialist and RB. I'm guessing not Safety either.
BPA at #12 could be Trey Lance, Rashawn Slater, Patrick Surtain or Kyle Pitts.
If all of them are gone I'd like to trade down and target Vera-Tucker or Jaelan Phillips.
A lot of hits and few misses.

I see them coming out of this draft with 2 CBs and 1 safety. The secondary is very talent deprived and all the same free agents are on one year deals.

Our secondary keeps getting hurt every season. What are the odds of that. Most teams usually roll with their starting CBs all season. Are our guys trying to be LBs too often?

Agreed. I still want a better backup QB. Alex Smith, Mccarron or Minshew for me

I agree that our guys get hurt too often but I think other teams get pretty banged up in the secondary as well. I don't see our guys hitting any harder or putting their bodies on the line more than other teams either. Injuries are just going to happen. Especially the last couple years with an aging vet (Sherman) and extremely injury prone player (Verrett). If our starters JV and E Man can stay healthy all year that's great! The lack of depth behind them is alarming though. It's time to draft at least 2 corners and another safety just to try and hit on 1 or 2 more starting caliber players. They need to get younger and healthier over the next couple of years. If they can hit on a rookie or two on cheap contracts that could set this team up huge in the future. Way too much uncertainty in this group moving forward.

No McCarron for me. Alex Smith all day. Minshew would be nice but he'd have to be traded for and I'm not down with giving up draft capital
