Rosen is garbage. Rosen cannot process anywhere nearly as good as Jones.

This is a narrative based on what Rosen has done in the pros. In college, Rosen was praised for many of the same things Jones is being praised for now. There is a clip from the night he was drafted where Chris Simms was raving about what a great pick it was at 10. He calls him the safest pick in the draft and praises his elite processing speed and intelligence.

Chris Simms is not a good analyst or player evaluator. He was a decent QB in college and that's it. If his daddy didn't win that one Super Bowl no one would care about either of them.

I liked Rosen at UCLA but it's obvious that he isn't an NFL starting QB.

What super bowl did Chris Simms win? You mean Phil?

Yes, that's why I said his daddy won a Super Bowl.

I see it now.

I mean I just went back and watched a couple of his college games (cropped and sped up, of course), and he does some of the same hesitations that he did in Arizona. It was much worse in Arizona (more frequently), but it was still there in college.

That's my understanding too. The difference between 3rd, 4th, and 5th means to me that they envision any of the top 5 QBs as upgrades and worthy of the trade up. What we don't know was if the 3rd pick was specifically strategic or if it was pragmatic. At this point it doesn't matter. I honestly believe that because of the COVID restrictions, they didn't know exactly which QB they'd choose / prefer, but the initial scouting placed all 5 guys as worthy of the pick and worthy of at least next year's first round pick too. Also, part of the calculus was that next years QBs were not valued as high, so it was time to strike. And by moving up, it gave them adequate time to examine their options out in the open as opposed to in the shadows at #12.

Breer said they never offered anything for 4-5 and more or less was asking if they were willing to move down....my takeaway from that is they were seeing who wanted a QB in the top 5 and who was willing to move down for someone that may wanted a QB.

They along with Miami didn't shop their pick with any other teams...it was just a matter of Miami finding a 3rd team.

I can't wait for the draft to be done at this point lol

Or it could be that they wanted to go to 3, but Miami wasn't will to go back to 12 so they were checking with 4,5, and 6 to see who would be willing to go back to 12, and Philly was the only team. 🤷🏽‍♂️
To me the biggest difference between Fields and Mac is Fields could have a bad game passing and still beat you in other ways. And what if the Niners suffer some injuries and they need their QB to carry them? What if the defense is on point and our Receivers can't get open on that particular day? What if we need our QB to buy some time for our receivers to get open? We can't always depend on Kyle to scheme our guys open. It's not that easy. We have to remember that defenses have a job to do also. Mac Jones is not going to be playing against those Edge rushers and Dbacks he played against in College. And the coaching is also way more advanced, The game planning, scouting, and everything. Mac's limited athletic ability scares the hell out of me. Putting all our faith in his football IQ to make him a top 10 QB is not what I want to trade 2 future 1st RD picks for.

Bingo. Also, Jones TALKED about how he'd take to coaching (saying he'd stay within the structure of the play), but Fields SHOWED it, by changing up his foot position for the pro day.

And that's what most of us are hoping Kyle finally sees, that guys like Fields and Lance can beat you when things aren't going perfect and even when they're struggling passing or oline is being garbage they can beat you with their legs at least

Lamar Jackson rushed for 1000 yds as a freshman and 1500+ the 2 years after that. Fields has never rushed for more than 500 yds in a season. Not to mention, Jackson threw more INTs in his heisman season than Fields did in his entire career.

1 I'm hoping neither Lance or Fields are anything like Jackson and 2 I know for a fact they're nothing like Jackson. They are much advanced better passers already and Jackson is in a different breed of running anyways. I would hate to have a qb like Jackson anyways, at the end of the day I want my qb to beat you consistently with his arm and not be f**ked when they're down multiple scores

The trade was finalized before Wilson threw.

The trade was in the works for weeks. The wait according to Breer was Miami not wanting to move all the way to 12, so they had to find a separate 3rd team...which was Philly.

It also wasn't done until Lynch could see Wilson. It doesn't matter what time it started. He was there and had the opportunity to watch him warmup, talk to medical ppl, etc.

I dont buy that it was all a coincidence that this week's in the Making trade goes down as Lynch is in Utah.

Also, I'm not really interested in deals they talked about the decision they made was that they needed #3 a d made huge efforts to get that deal done. If they were happy with any QB they could have made the deal with Philly and cut Miami out totally.

Shefter said in the Maiocco interview that it was done for a couple of days before that and he was waiting to announce it until the league approved it.

Yup. I would have been fine with him at 12. Not 3.

yeah, just like the last Super Bowl when Mahomes scrambled and won...wait, never mind.

But Fields did have 12 fumbles, so there is that.

And we need to look no further than the two guys in our division that have been a pain to us. How many times has Wilson looked horrible for 3 quarters and then he just uses his athletic ability to beat us in the 4th quarter. Or Kyle Murray who was doing nothing in the passing game and then just says ok I am just going to run which we couldn't stop. Then the passing game opened up and Hopkins went nuts on us. We know 1st hand what it's like to have our Dbacks have perfect coverage and our Edge rushers to think they have a sack, just to have the QB slip away and make a play. I would like to be on the other side of that for a change.

I know a lot of people knock his performance in the Chip but fields was obviously playing injured. His ribs or something were def broke . Must of had some serious bruising too.

I like that trait a lot. I think by the time the chip rolled around, the injury was prolly around its height of pain cause it was healing - when it first happens you can usually use adrenaline to get through it - at least partially (which I think showed in the Clemson game).

I'm definitely warming up to fields - I gotta say, it would be wonderful to have a QB that can throw dimes all over and burst for a quick gain like Wilson does. If he can be 3/4 of what Wilson is - we would be in great shape.

I was impressed how he still was competing after Alabama had already scored 52 points. It would have been easy to sit it out and not risk injury and jeopardizing your draft status at that point but he was in there hanging in the pocket and threw that beautiful back shoulder fade in the 4th quarter.

That's interesting, I had misses that. Regardless, I love this trade as long as it nets us Fields or Wilson.
