One week from draft - if both are available at 2 who are you taking?

Dee Ford?
Williams and Bosa at the same time.

You don't have to justify your pick (it's been debated to death in other threads) - just want to see if there is an overwhelming consensus pick between the 2

Side note- Last time I can remember such a debate was Alex Smith vs Aaron Rodgers - wonder who the consensus was back then

I'm still convinced that Williams is uncontroversially the better player. However, positional value is real. I would rather draft Everson Griffin, which is what Bosa is (although he's a bit slower, but he's still around a top ten defensive end), at No. 2 than the second best defensive tackle in the NFL (which I what I believe Williams will be).

We need two of them.

The underrating of interior pressure on this site has gone beyond the absurd. If you're drafting Everson Griffen at #2, that would be somewhat disappointing. He's a pretty good, not great edge.

I'll take a Fletcher Cox over an Everson Griffen every day of the week.

This has been discussed so many times. We're only in base like 30 percent of time. The other 70 percent we'll be in sub packages and he'll have plenty of opportunities to rush the passer.

While this is partially true, it doesn't tell the whole story because the packages are not black and white with only base and nickel. It's base, nickel, and a third package in between that many of us call snickel(strong nickel). base+snickel account for roughly(just a guess here) around 70% of total snaps, and in snickel, the 49ers mainly stay in their under alignment, which would keep him nose. This is precisely why Solomon can't get enough snaps inside. He can't play 1t/nose in snickel.

The reason I think edge pressure is more important is because while the shortest path the qb is a straight line, it's also the path most likely to end up with double teams, and 3 O-linemen on two is usually more successful than the 1 on 1 match ups you get on the edge. Additionally, having two real threats on the edge will eat play-action from under center alive and force teams away from it.

Of course, there is another downside that gives me pause, and it's the elephant in the room that Bosa fans pretend isn't there: the injury history. It's real, and denying it is foolish. So I do waver back and forth on these two guys.

But the 49ers are going to do more wide 9 stuff next year, so NT will not be as frequent as it has been.
@Phoenix49ers

I still think Arizona might surprise the world and take QW anyway. It's a need and he's the best player in the draft. The whole Rosen thing might just be a smokescreen to try to get a lopsided trade.

Are we still talking about this? LOL.

Alright, I will repeat myself. In my opinion, Q is the better player and the only guy qualified for that 2 pick. If we take Bosa at 2, he would be overdrafted.

I am not saying Bosa is a bad player per se, my point has always been that he is not "special", by that I mean for example he ain't no Von Miller.

With that said, I also understand EDGE is the bigger need, so if I could do it my way, I would trade down to turn the 2 pick into 2 x 1st round picks and take a lesser EDGE (such as Sweat/Ferrell) and either a top TE (such as Hockenson) or a top WR.

Sounds like Jim Carrey's "unanonomaninity".

Heard something interesting today regarding Bosa. If his last name was different would he still have the hype going into the draft he has today?
Is he getting a little boost from big brother Joey? Just something to consider.

I'm in the Q camp but I just want what's best for the Niners regardless. I'm rooting for the team either way.

One thing is certain, I would hate to be in Lynch's shoes come draft night with all that's riding on this particular draft.

whoever we pick will probably tear their acl anyways
Which player has a history of injuries?? If history repeats itself the Niners only draft players with injury histories.

Then they will draft Bosa because he is the injured guy. He will be on injured reserve by week 1, 2 or 3. I seriously doubt he makes it through an entire season for any team. I also don't think he is special as a player. I think he is good or can be good if he stays healthy (which he certainly won't). But QW is special and more likely to stay healthy too for a whole season.
