Yeah, given their guy and where most would value them, they certainly have that mantra. They don't seem to give a s**t about reading the room. If they're within striking distance, they don't leave it to chance.
Isn't that how its supposed to work though. You place a projected draft value on a player and if you want him, for *sure,* you pick him a bit earlier-- just to make sure you get him?
Yes and no. Yes but the idea is you still want to read the room and not give free draft picks away simply because you can in a panic. How many draft picks has this regime tossed away for "their guy." Or overrated guys in a panic mode (i.e. BeatHard, Joe Williams, Wishnowsky).
This 6 year regime was given a license to just go get their guy because they had 6 years to build the roster. But now you're seeing us up against the cap and guys like Foster and Pettis are costly. And we sure could have used those extra draft picks for TODAY.
