For those wondering how we only ended up with 5 picks this year:
2019 draft picks
Round 1: San Francisco
Round 2: San Francisco
Round 3: San Francisco
Round 4: San Francisco
Round 5: None
Round 6: San Francisco
Round 7: None
The 49ers gave away two picks in this draft for offensive line help, sending their fifth-rounder to the Lions for Laken Tomlinson before the 2017 season and their seventh-rounder to the Browns for Shon Coleman before this season.
I don't remember Shon Coleman, and I'm ok with not have a bunch of 6th and 7th rounders for our GMs to gloat about. The value of drafting high each round is worth way more on the point scale. Let's just hope we nail this draft because mistakes at the top are huge (5yr) setbacks.

I imagine we trade down with either our 3rd or 4th round picks to get a little more. But man it's weird having this little picks after years of baalke being a draft pick whore.

I see our first 3 picks as being immediate starters. So for me I'm keeping those and drafting ER, CB, ER. This is assuming we get a WR1 in FA. I would not trade any of these picks for a current player. Kyle has proven he can scheme his offense open and got great production from 3rd stringers. The D needs major upgrades and MLB could also be a need.

You would rather draft a second edge rusher than a safety??

The 4 years from 2013 to 2016, we had 44 picks. For the 2019 season only 4 or 5 guys from those drafts will be on the team. Out of them only 3 will be starters (Armstead, Tartt, DeFo) with only 1 being better than average (DeFo).
More picks, while being good, isn't always the answer.

I agree. Plus we have so many first and second year players that all they need is more playing time. The problem with that sometimes are the inconsistencies in play and lack of experiences. Also, are they being coached correctly? So for me, if we already have a young roster, we need to add some on free agency to bring a little more experience. Btw, we found Breida, Wilson, Mullens as UDFA so I'm sure Shanahan will find players that fit our scheme perfectly.Originally posted by mitpdub:I see our first 3 picks as being immediate starters. I keep hearing we could get a pro bowl safety via FA. I've read that with this deep draft of ERs we should consider a second one.
