General 2019 NFL Draft Discussion

I am thinking, even if a team wants Haskins everyone knows AZ, SF, and the JETS have a FQB already.

Why trade with AZ or us if you can give the Jets less to get your man? Unless its more than one team fighting for him? will be a ton of Poker going on

The obvious reason is someone can trade up ahead of your target spot?

Say you're the Jags and you want to move up but don't want to give up the draft capital to move to #1 or #2. Good for you. Giants may say f*ck it and move up with either of those two teams and you're left holding your dick.

It's kind of why Chicago overpaid so much to move up to #2. It was more about another team trading up with us ahead of them versus us picking a QB at 2.

A few weeks ago, I would have been pissed not ending up with the #1 pick, but now I'm OK with it. Herbert going back to Oregon will make the teams looking for a new QB more desperate to move up and there are other prospects like Q. Williams who are worthy of the top slot instead of Bosa. This will be one of the more interesting off seasons in the past few years. Can't wait for free agency and potential trades to start to clarify the Niners roster needs. Bring it on, bring it on!!!!!!!

Yeah, you're right.

Thing is I still recall everyone talking about Trubisky the entire year before. There really are no QB being talked about much till Haskins just now.
Hopefully he kills it in interviews and workouts etc.

Exactly this. If there's 1 guy that's a FQB in the draft, you need a FQB, and you know 5 teams also desperately need a FQB - it's likely atleast one of those 5 are starting with number 1 overall in trade talks.

Every team at 1st overall pretends there's significant interest in their pick but there's no way of knowing just how much interest so these teams make an offer that they're comfortable with. At the end of the day it only takes one team desperate enough to offer enough for the team picking 1st overall to pull the trigger and with multiple teams in need it's likely to happen since atleast 2 of those teams can't afford to not land a FQB this year and keep their jobs next year so it starts a bidding war of legitimate interest, not just bluffing.
I would like to double dip on defense the first two picks but there is nothing wrong with drafting oline with that second rounder.

Or go defense the first two and line the 3rd.

100%. Could be a pleasant surprise on offense or defense sitting there in the second. But a solid tackle who could play guard for a year or two is fine by me.

Especially after how well the colts are doing and how good of a job they do protecting Luck. That would help our offense more than any playmaker would imo
I know this is the 2019 draft discussion but I had to throw this in here...2020's WR class is gonna be straight 🔥

He's another guy I'm excited to see at the Senior Bowl

Might be going even further ahead but the Clemson freshman kid Ross looks unreal

Very helpful. If we went a developmental LT or G at pick #36, JL has these guys. Who would be the best choice for our ZBS?

41. OT David Edwards, Wisconsin

40. IOL Dru Samia, Oklahoma

39. OT Greg Little, Ole Miss

37. IOL Garrett Bradbury, N.C. State
