"I talked to FOX college football analyst Joel Klatt about whether Patterson can be the game-changer at quarterback that Harbaugh's been lacking since his Ann Arbor arrival. "No question," Klatt said. He offered up some more perspective on that.

"Shea is the best quarterback that (Harbaugh) has had since Andrew Luck. Period," Klatt said. "People in these neck of the woods are drastically underestimating the impact he could have on the conference."

Patterson will spend the next few months proving himself to his teammates and to a coaching staff that's done nothing but try to squash the buzz surrounding his arrival.

But once he hits the ground running in South Bend, there'll be no slowing him down."

3) Devin Bush, OLB, Michigan
"Big things are expected from Bush this season after his first-team All-Big Ten performance as a sophomore. Michigan allows him to roam in the middle of the defense, but he might be best-suited to play weak-side linebacker in a 4-3 defense thanks to his lack of size (5-11, 232, per school measurements) but plus pursuit speed. Bush plays with a good feel for sifting through the traffic when he's pursuing ball carriers and he's very adept adjusting his pursuit angles when needed. However, he will need to be careful about running under blocks and opening running lanes. With seven passes defensed last season, he also showed off his coverage potential, which is a very important play trait in today's game."

11) Chase Winovich, OLB, Michigan
"Many Michigan fans expected Winovich to hit my defensive line list, but scouts I've spoken with believe that he will end up transitioning into a role at 3-4 outside linebacker in the pros. Winovich is labeled as a "try-hard" player by scouts, and that is certainly an accurate description of his playing style, but he's also skilled with his hands. He has a deft feel for working around blockers in an efficient manner. He has decent get-off as a rusher and does a good job of getting early shoulder turn so tackles can't move him up and around the rush arc. His 19 tackles for loss last season (8.5 sacks) are indicative of his desire to make impact plays behind the line of scrimmage."

So after reading some of these articles the Wolverines have pretty much an all American at every position and future all Americans as back ups

Michigan's defense will be very tough, likely better than last year, could average around 15 points given up per game. Their defense had one returning starter last year and averaged 18 points given up per game.
Offensive line and new coach Ed Warriner will help it be a better than 2017.
Wide receivers coach Jim McElwain coming in not as their offensive coordinator helps.
The duo of Tarik Black and Donovan Peoples-Jones has a chance to be special.
Reality is it's all about about the quarterback play in 2018. What's held them back the last two years is the quarterback position, and that's what it's all about. The position is Shea Patterson's to win but he doesn't think he automatically get the job. It's not a given he's this perfect Michigan quarterback and definitely has some competition in that position group.
Eventually, Jim Harbaugh gets over the hump and beats the rivals.
This may be the best overall and complete team Michigan's had since Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor, but the gauntlet of a schedule may play a huge factor. Sept. 1 is right around the corner and can't get here soon enough."
