I can't believe how misinformed people are in this thread. Using only highlight videos to prop up a player is lazy! How about we look at the FACTS?!?!?!?!?!?! Gary graded poorly in pass rush production compared to his peers in situations where he was told to get after the QB. This grade INCLUDES chips and double/triple teams!!!!!! FACTS. The HATE on reality is REAL!

I can't believe posters in this thread don't even know that the 49ers don't need another BIG END. Sad!!!!!! We already have a prospect in Street who is the exact type of physical specimen as GARY!!!!! A top pick should go to a player that has PROVEN pass-rush productivity!!!!! Bosa got double/triple teamed, chipped, and schemed around, yet he still got SACKS. FACTS!!!!!!!! 1) Over half of his snaps were triple, double and chipped, in college....Does Bosa have that stat? Most want to compare sacks stats but don't understand the player? 5) Bosa and Gary had two different jobs yet most want to compare sacks but don't want to compare job role.

6) His role definitely mattered. He is a true junior now. One of the youngest. He hasn't peaked yet and Don Brown didn't ask him to do the same job as Bosa. Facts. That's real quick.

The real question is, how old are you? It's about the facts not the player. That's what some are not comprehending..or refuse to comprehend... The quicker some accept the facts and report the truth. The quicker everyone moves on..

If Gary played in all these positions and asked to do different assignments than Bosa (which is pretty simple - get to the QB) then 49ers DON'T need Gary. 49ers NEED someone to rush the passer on the other side of Ford, not another utility player.

Gary the Utility workout warrior I don't want anywhere near the 9ers unless it was in the 3rd round!!!

I can't wait until thursday and we easily pass on this guy so this thread can rot in hell and brought up later in the year when this guy is still not racking up sacks

1. Can you show me the snap counts with the times he was double and triple teamed. Not a video or a tweet of someone saying he was doubled and tripled teamed. I want the actual numbers.

2. I agree they schemed away from Gary on run plays because he's a very good run defender.

3. Lots of linemen get moved across the line to try and expose a weakness in the line nothing special about that.

4. I'm more interested in percent of hurries per snap rather than the whole of hurries. If player A plays only 100 snaps and got 20 hurries and player B got 600 snaps and got 40 hurries. Player A is the better pass rusher.

5. But we want Bosa because we have an opening at the job he did really well at. We currently have the job Gary would be coming to filled.

6. Lots of players get drafted with the idea they haven't peaked yet and they have a very high ceiling. Some work out but lots do not.

Just because you get confirmation bias from twitter and YouTube doesn't make things facts. Just as Bosa or Williams aren't a lock to be superstars. This isn't an attack of Gary he's a smart good kid. I personally do not think he will be anything special in the NFL. That's my opinion from watching every game I can watch of his with the understanding of his scheme and what he is asked to do. He will be a very good run defender and a average pass rusher in the league in my opinion.

Kind of disagree with your personnel argument not necessarily Gary though. When the team acquired Ford big leo/ strongside nickel end became the biggest need on the d line since Solly is a complete bust at end. As long the end can hack it at end in nickel he's worth the pick

So me saying the whole time, he isn't a bust, he isn't Solomon Thomas if you really researched. You would see it.

It makes perfect sense if you knew his job role. Stats don't tell the whole story with him and I have been saying it.

The video proves teams scheming away from him, proves he was triple doubled and chipped more than half his snaps in college. Of course it makes sense when you see it.

It doesn't makes sense when you disregard it. It's not excuses. It's a fact when you look at the tape and not just the stats.
