More like orangutan arms, especially for a dude his height.

He really is Elvis Dumervil.

Isn't 34.5" relatively short?

No

I've been on his bandwagon for a year but his lack of size concerns me.

I don't see a SAM for our system. The main responsibility for the SAM in our scheme is to set the edge and cover the flats. That is not double O's game. He is a legit edge rusher though and probably the best in the draft. I'm not sure he will develop into a 3 down base LEO though.

So the question is, do we spend a premium pick on a pass down edge rusher who won't play in base??

I think with the way Saleh used our big package on base downs and then brought in the pass rushers on passing downs he would be a fit.

Base D:

5T- Solomon Thomas
NT- Earl Mitchell / Sheldon Day
3T- Deforest Buckner
LEO- Ziggy Ansah / Arik Armstead

Nickle D:

9T- Ogbonnia Okoronkwo /Elvis Dumervil
NT- Solomon Thomas / Sheldon Day
3T- Deforest Buckner
LEO- Ziggy Ansah / Elvis Dumervil

*if we don't sign Ansah, Armstead could slide into the base LEO with Dumervil coming in on passing downs.

That is a sick Dline rotation that can do alot of damage.

OO is one of those guys that would have 20 tackles with 13 sacks and a pile of pressures. And I'm quite Ok with that.

A perfect comparison to double O is Hassan Reddick. They have almost identical skillsets.

Hassan went 13th overall to Arizona last year.

34.5" is long for a dude who is 6'4". It's crazy for a guy who goes 6'1". Honestly, if you were to draw up a perfect edge rusher, he'd have those measurables. The height allows him to dip under OTs easily, and gives him natural leverage to extend that long arm and convert speed to power. The crazy rm length helps him get into the OTs frame and dictate contact timing,as well as generate impressive leverage in his hand technique.

I wasn't paying any attention to this guy, because I figured he was too undersized for either SAM or LEO, but now I want to watch whatever I can find on him. I watched a little bit already today, and I like his inside chop counter when his speed forces the OT to jump outside. His spin is trash, though.

for reference, Armstead has 33" arms, and Buckner has 34 3/8" arms. OO is longer than both.

They just want our LEO to be a premier pass rusher.

How do you define that position? What are the responsibilities of the LEO?

"He is your premier pass rusher. We do everything we can to get him to the open side. His hair is on fire, just get after the quarterback."

That is why they thought AA would be Ok at LEO cause he wouldn't have to think about his responsibilities. Just get after the QB.

OO is BUILT for our LEO
should trade AA

yup he wasn't called the condor for nothing...what a damn shame

Ziggy who I'm hoping we pay in FA has 35 1/8 inch arms and ran a 4.63 40 at 270 lbs freak nasty as long as he's healthy.

Perfectly said, Wrath. I wholeheartedly agree.

This is a good example of natural leverage with long levers. Ogbo lands the stab. Leverage advantage allows him to work underneath the tackle's pads to shotput him out of his way. I'm so excited about Ogbo now lol. I love short edge rushers with long arms.

He's like a mid-first, early-second rounder, right? So it would require trading to get him...
