I would think so. Deshaun Watson is still getting paid

So basically the team is toast this year, he gets to take time away at full pay. Not saying he's doing this but I could see some player having an incentive to say they need time away for mental health reasons just to get extended fully paid time off.

every job has that. I could take time off for mental health reasons and get paid too. and it isnt too dissimilar from when players get hurt physically and have to take time off as well

its required he will have to see a team psychiatrist though

Lol my job does not have a program where they pay me if I take extended time off for mental issues, and I'd say most other jobs are the same. I could possibly use federal programs like FMLA but I'd be paying myself using vacation and when that was dried up not getting paid at all for missing time. Disability is almost never approved for mental issues unless they are extreme so no short or long-term disability pay. I get 6 sick days a year. Anything beyond that I am in trouble unless I have medical clearance and then it is a pain in the ass and I know this because I have really bad back problems and have used FMLA in the past.

really? my job does

i thought it was mandated

So your job will just pay you your regular amount till you decide you're better?

I call BS honestly. I've never heard of a company allowing extended leave for mental health.

Nor have I, if such a thing happens that is reserved for the privileged and not the norm.

That said, it should be a normal thing given our exceedingly unhealthy society.

its al within reason i think we have an unusual/progressive structure in terms of that. We have unlimited vacation days 8 months maternity leave 3 months paternity leave etc

as long as you don't abuse the policy and have a serious issue my company is ok with it. I will add we have mental health services including psychiatrist so I am assuming we have to get signed off although I'm not 100% sure

With more and more mental health issues arising out of the pandemic lockdown, more employers should be honoring leave time to deal with those issues. I know a few that are but more should.
