Aside from Unger, who's a big blow, saints should be fine this year...they massively upgraded their D in the draft, and they have Michael Thomas at WR, they still have drew brees, and a RB corps of Adrian Peterson, Mark Ingram, and Alvin Kamara is absolutely RIDICULOUS. They also signed Tedd Ginn who, while definitely no brandin cooks, offsets the loss of his speed.
They had one of the nicer drafts this year, imo. Pretty much played it perfectly as it related to their needs
I don't know. The Bucs and Panthers also improved. Throw in the Falcons and the Saints have some rough sledding in their division.
They get a few softballs with the Bears, Jets, Rams, and maybe the Bills, but they also drew the Pats and Packers. The Vikes, Lions, Skins and Dolphins are a toss up, IMO.
I think they'll be lucky to break even. 7-9 or 8-8 is where I see them. Consider, they've been 7-9 for 4 of the past 5 seasons. Did they really improve that much? I say no.
They're no better on offense. They upgraded their running game, but thats always been a position group underutilized under Payton. They're weaker at WR and have a sketchy Oline. A rookie RT and losing your veteran Center is a bad combo for a pass-happy team.
On defense, they're good up front. They have inconsistent LB play and their secondary is very vulnerable. At CB, it really isn't looking good and Lattimore has to beat the odds just to stay healthy. They're a young and beatable secondary that won't hold up in a shootout.
I think we're looking at the same ole Saints facing a strengthened division. I'd put that pic in the #40-50 range. You never know though. Saints-watch has officially started.
