They haven't done any actual analysis of Jackson yet. It'll come.

This. If Jackson doesnt improve substantially he is going to be ripped apart as a passer. He makes Watson look like Andrew Luck in comparison. Horrible pocket presence.
I can't take Jackson seriously as an NFL QB. He may have another monster college season but he will get ripped apart once he declares.

2018 Free Agent WR's

Alshon Jeffrey
DeAndre Hopkins (LOVE)
Julian Edelman (LOVE)
Terrell Pryor
Jordan Matthews (LOVE)
Davante Adams
Allen Robinson (LOVE)
Donte Moncrief

If we can get Allen Robinson in free agency I'll be very happy. I wanted us to draft him in the 2014 so bad...it was the exact moment I turned on Baalke.

I was so angry about it I didn't even watch the 2015 draft. It was more than that, it was also the fact that was the best WR class in recent memory and we went with Ward in the first. We waited till the 4th round to get a WR.

I spent about 75 hours waching tape on WR's that year and had Robinson graded as a mid to late first rounder. Anyway...water under the bridge.

Agree.

He's a great college QB. Unless he improves his passing he'll sink in the NFL. Although, if he had a time machine and came out in 2011/2012 I think he'd have a good rookie season.

He'll also have to put on some weight.
As I see it, assuming we are landing Kirk Cousins, I'd put the teams current 2018 needs, in order, as follows:

Elephant/DE: no true fit at this position on our current roster

WR1: even after completely revamping and upgrading the position this off-season, through both FA and the draft, still one of the lease imposing WR corps in the league.

OT: Staley is getting older, and there are questions about Browns fit in the scheme. High hopes, but nothing proven from Theus.

C: I can't speak for everyone, but I don't want to have to rely on Kilgore anymore. Can't keep our fingers crossed for the health of a mediocre player, and Beadles or zuttah can't be the answer long term. Strong play from the Center position is vital in any offense, and particularly in a Shanny O.

DT1T: Need our double team holding, LOS penetrating NT of the future.

SLB: I have a Brooks jersey, but the fact that he is our plug in best player at the position at this stage in his career is sad and worrisome.

FS: Questions about Ward's ability aside (I love the player and fully expect him to succeed), we have no depth behind a player with a history of injuries.

CB: I love our CB group, but also don't see the shut down corner that makes the rest of the league jealous.

TE: Shanny loves his TE. Shanny appears to not love Vance McDonald. A premier move TE can also help mask our problems at WR.

RB: Not sure if Hyde or Williams are the workhorse back of the future. Can't help but drool over Saquon Barkley.

So, who should the niners draft with our 5 picks in the first 3 rounds?!
Next yrs needs assuming Cousins is the niners QB will be Pass Rusher, WR, OT, TE..the niners will have a great amount of money still so I imagine them signing the best free agent at either of their top 3 needs which to me is either Melvin Imgram, Allen robinson, or I like Seantrel Henderson...so id say 1 of them in free agency and the other 2 will be drafted in the 1st round expecting the niners to move back into the 1st again considering all of the early picks they accumulated this yr, id like to see Seantrel Henderson signed and these players be Drafted WR Courtland Sutton, DE Bradley Chubb in the 1st, TE Troy Fumagalli, DE Dorance Armstong in the 2nd and LB Azeem Victor in the 3rd with their 4 picks they will have after trading back into the 1st..taking 2 Pass rushers in the 1st 2 rounds just says how much I trust the pass rushers that are on the team as of now..
I'm hoping year 1 is successful I'm terms of player development so we can focus on obvious needs like receiver, QB, OT,and edge rusher. It will be nice to draft a top 5 receiver.

When you have Jackson's ability to run the ball there's just no reason for him to seriously improve as a passer. He can't be stopped. Of course we're just talking college. The pros is a different animal. If you take him it's another Vick, Griffen and you're hoping you can teach him on the fly.
Saints just lost their star center Max Unger. He's out for at leat six months with a foot injury.

This is bad news for the Saints offense. Good news for our 2018 draft.

Oh yeah! I forgot we have their 2nd rounder.

Down with Drew!

Exactly. I almost started a "Saints watch" thread to keep track of their roster and 2017 season.

What's their WR situation without Cooks?

Seems like they went heavy on defense in the draft. CB, saftey and LB within the first three rounds. Losing Cooks and their center for six months should have a negative impact. Hopefully Lattimore doesn't hit the ground running. I know their secondary was bad last year.

I need to catch up on the Saints. lol

Aside from Unger, who's a big blow, saints should be fine this year...they massively upgraded their D in the draft, and they have Michael Thomas at WR, they still have drew brees, and a RB corps of Adrian Peterson, Mark Ingram, and Alvin Kamara is absolutely RIDICULOUS. They also signed Tedd Ginn who, while definitely no brandin cooks, offsets the loss of his speed.

They had one of the nicer drafts this year, imo. Pretty much played it perfectly as it related to their needs

I don't know. The Bucs and Panthers also improved. Throw in the Falcons and the Saints have some rough sledding in their division.

They get a few softballs with the Bears, Jets, Rams, and maybe the Bills, but they also drew the Pats and Packers. The Vikes, Lions, Skins and Dolphins are a toss up, IMO.

I think they'll be lucky to break even. 7-9 or 8-8 is where I see them. Consider, they've been 7-9 for 4 of the past 5 seasons. Did they really improve that much? I say no.

They're no better on offense. They upgraded their running game, but thats always been a position group underutilized under Payton. They're weaker at WR and have a sketchy Oline. A rookie RT and losing your veteran Center is a bad combo for a pass-happy team.

On defense, they're good up front. They have inconsistent LB play and their secondary is very vulnerable. At CB, it really isn't looking good and Lattimore has to beat the odds just to stay healthy. They're a young and beatable secondary that won't hold up in a shootout.

I think we're looking at the same ole Saints facing a strengthened division. I'd put that pic in the #40-50 range. You never know though. Saints-watch has officially started.
