MadDog49er Final Big 253 Board April 27 2017

Still very torn between Thomas and Hooker. Love both players.

We might have someone with Hooker's skill set in Ward, but nobody with Thomas's skill set on the roster. I tend to lean toward Thomas, but Hooker is so dynamic.

Hey MD,

I see Nico Siragusa rising on everybody's board and I believe yours as well. We pick early 3rd round at 66 and then again at 109th. I don't believe he would ever make it to 109th. Do you think 66th is too early? I saw you said he is one of the best guards. Zane Beadles imo is meh and only signed through next year. If we replace Zane then that will shore up the Oline until Staley or Zuttah need to be replaced. Staley, NICO, Zuttah, Garnett and Brown. I thought the Niners have a real interest in Nico. Again, would 66th be too early for you to take Nico and do you believe he's a good fit for our team system?

Sorry MadDog, don't know if you missed this.

Greta work MadDog. Thomas has suddenly become the chique pick for us at #2 with a lot of theories on where he would play and if he can convert to the Elephant/Leo position. You may have answered this before, but I'd like to hear your opinion on if he can play Leo or would just be a redundant pick for our Niners.
Or does Saleh plan on playing exotic overloaded D-line men fronts to stop the run?

Base down LDE who plays a huge role in improving run defense, and interior rusher on passing downs. Not an edge guy.

The Niners could not stop the run last year. Thomas REALLY helps in that department. Then, pair him up with Buckner inside on passing downs....nightmare for OC of the other team. Who do you double?

The team would need to add an edge rusher at some point in the draft (Keionta Davis, Keion Adams, etc.)

MD that's the best explanation of Thomas' value yet. Don't think that Taco Charlton in the second or anyone later can fill that role better.

Thomas or not we'd still need a day one edge rusher. Not Thomas and someone who probably doesn't get much snaps at DE on third downs.

Of course the Niners need another "designated" pass rusher to rotate in on 3rd down. I think most Zoners who do mock drafts have another player like Willis, Rivers, etc. to upgrade the pass rush later as well.

Just making sure it's not Thomas and we're good lol. What I'm torn about is addressing the SAM...I'd like to get someone that can be a push starter but I feel we can wait for next year due to other needs.
MD, do you think Bowser can rush from the edge in the Nickel? Interested as Saleh seems to want our SAM to have his hand in the ground in our Nickel.

If we get a starting Leo I think we got enough rotation at Sam to work for the year (Spikes, Harold, Lynch). We really need to nail on 1 pass rusher though this draft.

I think he's saying if you're a SAM in this system you have to be able to rush on third downs. Interested in his put as well on Bowser.

Sorry, I must have missed it. I like Siragusa as a starter in the NFL. He plays hard on every snap, has good mobility and squares up on linebackers in the second level. I have every confidence he will be on the board at the start of the third round, and is probably going to be there early in the fourth. He would be a really great value pick on the start of Day Three.

Here is my best board for guards, with graded rounds on the far right
1 Forrest Lamp Western Kentucky 1
2 Cam Robinson Alabama 2
3 Dan Feeney Indiana 2
4 Dorian Johnson Pittsburgh 3
5 Nico Siragusa San Diego St 3
6 Isaac Asiata Utah 4
7 Corey Levin Chattanooga 5
8 Jermaine Eluemunor Texas A&M 5
9 Danny Isidora Miami 5
10 Jessamen Dunker Tennessee St 5
11 Jake Eldrenkamp Washington 6
12 Ben Braden Michigan 7
13 Jordan Morgan Kutztown 7
14 Damien Mama USC 7
15 Aviante Collins TCU 7

The team could double up on DE at the start of the second round. I would have no beef if Takk McKinley was selected in that spot.

Bowser can do whatever he wants to. Very goof athlete. However, I am not sure there isn't better value waiting two more rounds and picking up Samson Ebukam in the early fourth. You are getting virtually the same player.
Based on my best board right now, and where I project players, I would end up with a haul that looks like this:
1. Solomon Thomas DE
2. Evan Engram (I'd like to trade down in this slot a handful of pick to half round) TE
3. Cooper Kupp Slot
4. Blair Brown ILB
4 Samson Ebukam OLB

These additions add super athletes and super productive players who project well to the NFL.

I would love that.
