Niners TE Vance McDonald is available for trade, even though he just signed an extension last Dec. New coach, changes happen.

Bummer...not sure we'd get much I think he's upside is worth more than a 6th

I'd rather just keep him

Well...

Looks like we're drafting a TE...

Thats the first thought that crossed my mind, the 49ers most iikely will target a TE rounds 2-4.

If Petermen falls to their 3rd, pull the trigger. If not, bank on Cousins, or possible trade up in next years draft. Worst case scenario, roll the dice on Kaaya in the 4th. He could be a low cost developmental QB.

If they like Peterman then they will trade up for him. We can't count on Cousins being available next year

Even though he just signed it, I wonder if we can re-work it so a lot more of the contract is front loaded to this year
Vance McDonald had a better season that Vernon Davis in 2014, and he's also younger than how old Davis was at the time.

We only got two 6ths, though. And had to trade a 7th.

Who really, really needs a tight end? Perhaps we could get a 5th shortly after #150 if a team bites. Could also be a piece to move up with.
Giants tried to trade up for Mahomes as well.

Man this Mahomes guy had more love than I thought lol

Giants tried to trade up for for QB Patrick Mahomes and were "very disappointed" they weren't able to get it done, per @AnitaMarks.
"NFL draft: 49ers may seek tight end surplus"

"Coach Kyle Shanahan makes sure to use tight ends, so business should be picking up for Vance McDonald and Garrett Celek, two of the 49ers' longest tenured players.

But with injuries often hindering them the past few seasons, the 49ers might want to dip into the draft for a prospect they can groom."

Trust me fellas, Matt Ryan was my qb in fantasy.. I drafted Austin Hooper.. Tight ends are his foundation to his offense...

Crazy, no idea he was that in demand

At this point that is an outstanding question, I'll consider Lynch a god if he can move McDonald contact as is.
McDonald a smokescreen?

Yeah but they have more than enough money to absorb it. He's definitely flawed, but he showed some good stuff last year and I thought he could be a weapon in Shannahans system.....but I guess KS feels otherwise lol

These guys aren't messing around!

Am I lying to you guys???

He wants his tight end..

Wonder if that has anything to do with barnidge? Would love to sign him and add an athletic TE in the draft

I'm hoping that they are wanting to draft Bucky Hodges.

If Budda Baker sits there much longer, one of those 3rds will be used to trade up for him.

That other one is for Bucky. He's my TE crush.

Alternates: Carl Lawson (trade up) or Tim Williams.

I'd love to grab a QB with the next pick. It gives you a lot of flexibility. 2nd & 3rd round guys aren't pressured to start right away so you can play Hoyer if needed or push them into action mid season if Hoyer is terrible. Also next year if Cousins is available you could still get him and keep the 2nd year guy as backup and nobody would bat an eye. Also if you hit on guy like Peterson, Kaaya, Davis, Kizer you don't have to pay Cousins $24M a year for 4-5 years.
