I hope the Bengals don't get past this terrible move.

Because mixon was already suspended a full college year and did community service. He did his punishment.

Did Ray Rice not?

Before Rice's incident, he did a lot for the community.

Well I wonder how the process went when scouting and interviewing him? Most likely this video came up and IMO, I wouldn't have drafted him in the 2nd with this video, not sure what Baalke was thinking is all I can say. But like you said, Hyde just didn't do the damage that Mixon did and even Rice but in the end F*** Mixon, Brantley and Rice and even Hyde for that coward act. To me, any man who hits a woman is a piece of s**t, if that was my daughter Mixon hit, he wouldn't be able to play football right now I can tell you that.

An understandable reaction as a father. I would hope you also are using these incidents to teach your daughter not to be violent towards men. You don't know what they are capable of so don't provoke the bear.

She hits him, he walks away and presses charges. Fairly easy to handle without being a pos.

Absolutely. Both parties should've known better.

He received a 2 game suspension when the report came out then he was back on the team, then the video came out and they terminated his contract . He took Ravens to court for giving him a second punishment , attempting to get the millions they owed him. And most think he got it.

That was unique situation because he got a terrible two game suspension and Ravens felt it wasn't enough.

He didn't get "banned for life", his talent/production had just drop low enough for it not to be worth the PR hit for signing him.

Big difference in potential consequences. She shoves him, he has a bruised ego and hurt feelings. The way he punched her he could have killed her and nobody would be up in here talking about "ooh such a poor guy, he was just defending himself from that 110 pound killing machine."

Yea the self defense b******t doesn't work here. Self defense from what? He f**ked up and they settled on a punishment. Should he be thrown away forever without a second chance for a terrible mistake he made at a young age? That's up to the organization.

He never had a chance here after hearing Jed say a few days ago that he doesn't have his nose in the football side at all. But him and his parents do have a say in the problem players. And they have every right to be, it's their business and if they don't want it represented a certain way then they have every right.

this. If he was having a pro bowl year he wouldve been picked up already. Mixon did his time and punishment plus he has played well during his career.

If you went and slapped Joey Porter there would be a huge difference in potential consequences too. That's why you don't slap Joey Porter. We as men know that if you hit someone bigger than you they might go nuts on your ass. Doesn't mean Joey Porter shouldn't walk away either.

The reasonable force laws apply to that scenario as well. If some 100 pound comic book nerd pushes him and Porter responds by wiring his jaw shut chances are he'll be charged with something. Self defense only goes to the level that you've been threatened with.

And then they go to jail. Youre not allowed to beat someone within an inch of their life because they said something mean to you or shoved you. The response has to be proportionate to the provocation. You go overboard, you are the one who was wrong in the eyes of the law.

I am a pretty well built guy that people often mistake for a football player or a powerlifter. I have military experience and have done a lot of hand to hand combat training, studying judo and Krav Maga. And I go out of my way to avoid conflict because the odds are that even if I win in a fight, I will lose in the legal system. So I walk away. Better some hurt pride than incarceration.

As a man from a very young age you know you arent supposed to ever put your hands on a woman. Its pretty straightforward. Mixon lost his s**t, nothing she did justified his response and my guess is that it wont be the last time which is why I am glad someone other than the 49ers drafted this guy.

He didn't say it's ok for mixon to knock that girl out. He's saying that some people are loose cannons and you have to have common sense to not f**k with him. Whether or not porter goes to jail if he beats your ass isn't the point, the point is it's common sense that if you slap him then he's gonna f**k you up.

And that is why we have laws. Some people are just really s**tty and cant coexist in a normal society. Its the same messed up mindset that leads to road rage incidents over the smallest perceived slight.
