Agreed. Hooker cant tackle. Someone you take at 2 cant have a glaring weakness like that.

We have another Bingo!

We have another Bingo!

Anyone who thinks he can't tackle literally doesn't know football.

Watch his games, he made 74 tackles, he's made as many really good hits as whiffs, most of them are due to poor angles due to over aggressive pursuit. I also think he may have been protecting himself a bit towards the end, which I'm not thrilled about.

The best word to describe his tackling is inconsistent, is it an issue, yes, do you want your #2 prospect to be almost flawless, yes.

We need to face reality, all the picks have big question marks, you need to evaluate them all and see how they fit with us.

This kid could turn into Ed Reed, that would be well worth it. He could also struggle to handle his run duties and be beaten out by Ward, obviously that wouldn't be.

Do your homework, don't just throw out things you've heard.

He takes bad angles, at times - the kid can tackle.

You're taking that comment too literal. Obviously any player at the college level can tackle. The best word to describe Hookers tackling is poor, its not just his angles. He also tends to put his head down and tackle with his arms, that aint going to cut in the pros. Now this is where someone who does actually know football comes into play, Hooker is a basketball player. He doesn't enjoy football, his mom literally had to make him get into her car and drive him back to OSU in her own words on several occasions. Hooker is a one year starter in college, in high school his main sport was basketball he was talked into playing Football. This is why he is a poor tackler, some of these kids have been tacking since 3rd grade Hooker barely started in high school. You can see in the film he doesn't like contact and at times looks unnatural trying to make tackles aka the "whiffs".

Wow. The player you're describing sounds like a nightmare.

Man, that sure doesn't sound like one of the top 4 players in the entire NFL draft. I wonder why all of these experts who keep putting him as one of the top 4 players in the entire draft keep getting it wrong.

Because you're thinking of the potential if he corrects the thing talked about above.

He played both in High School and I'd bet dreamed about playing pro BB, he injured his shoulder, so concentrated on Basketball, the college offers didn't come so he accepted at Ohio St for football, redshirted and hit the gym.

He then likely thought he'd done enough to start and was disillusioned when he didn't, he then thought about returning to Basketball, likely thinking, no pro career I'll do what I love.

When he got into the team you could just see how much he enjoys the game, and playing with two hernia's and a torn hip labrum shows plenty of grit and toughness.

I've seen him duck his head and dive too, and yes it's concerning, I think he was protecting himself, and yes that's an issue. I've noticed him make really big hits on the Goal line.

I can see him hitting the weights and refining his technique, his run angles will certainly improve.

My belief is this, his weaknesses can be coached, his strengths are extremely rare and can't be
Antonio Gates wanted to be a pro basketball player too... eventually he got paid as a football player and ran away with it lol. He's getting used to that physicality.

So this. What he's great at at really can't be coached. What he needs help with can absolutely be coached. Hes a top prospect for a reason. He's a prototype fit in our new scheme.
